Great insight to the making of Young Americans
I was extremely pleased to be able to purchase this CD, both the content and the sound quality exceeded my expectations. As other reviews mention, a number of the tracks have been made available before on expanded editions of Young Americans and the 'Gouster' CD in the 'Who Can I Be Now' box set. Great to have them all on this CD at a reasonable price! It is interesting to hear the difference between the early takes and the later, Tony Visconti produced tracks - the difference in the vocal performance sound by Bowie and the backing singers is amazing. No wonder Bowie called him to ask if he could 'pop over'!The vocals on the tracks left off the 1975 release of Young Americans are outstanding, in particular 'Who Can I Be Now' and 'It's Gonna Be Me' - no wonder Visconti himself was upset that these two tracks were omitted. That said, some of the other material (Shilling the Rubes for example) isn't so strong, but still of interest. All in all an excellent David Bowie CD, which complements and adds to the original Young Americans album.Definitely recommended.

Nice edition, but not as it should be
Nice to have some of the more recent outtakes that turned up online recently on a physical format.Note that Track 10, Can You Hear Me and Track 12, Right, are listed as Demos but are actually the Masters from the Young Americans LP.Likewise, Track 14, Somebody Up There Likes Me, is listed as an Outtake but is actually the YA version.

C'est magnifique !
This has renewed my interest in one of the key phases of Bowie's career. It's an intriguing collection of songs, albeit at least two of them are not demos as listed. However, it once again reaffirms the incredible breadth of David Bowie's talent. I still can't get over how seamlessly he moved and transitioned from one genre to another. It's breathtaking! This is David on the cusp of becoming a soul music star mere months after releasing Diamond Dogs. What a man! When comes such another!

An intriguing insight to how the album was constructed.
I loved this, Young Americans was on e of my favourite Bowie albums and to hear how the band went about constructing the songs that eventually made the YA release is great for a Bowie nerd like me. If you want to hear the songs in their prime then get eth finished album but this sits alongside it very nicely.

The Alternate Young Amdericans
Oh, the music on this cd is good. Well, not as good as the official cd, but this shows variations on the themes. When you hear a good CD the reaction often is "Give me more". This is it.So this complements the official album, rather than replacing it

Demos & Beyond
This is a set of very raw songs - songs being refined and captured by the Thin White Duke and his then current apostles. A key point in history.TOTALLY GLORIOUS!!!Not sure why 'Bowie PLC' havn't taken ownership of this material (maybe they're too focused on selling T-shirts and other assorted bric-a-brac to be honouring the memory and legacy of their honoured founder), so not sure whether to tell you to grab this now, or wait for the overpriced PLC boxset.. but I can safely say if you truly love Bowie, you wont be disappointed - YOU WILL LOVE THIS!SORRY I'M SHOUTING! I JUST FRICKING LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! BOWIE FOREVER!!!##

A useful add on to any Bowiephiles collection
While I haven't succumbed to shelling out over a hundred quid on the vinyl rereleases of Hunky Dory, Low etc this little addition for around a tenner is worth having to hear Young Americans in its various raw original versions, guided by Visconti who Bowie had summoned to the Sigma studios to get the right sound , some Diamond Dogs residue also features on this interspersed with various snippets of studio chit chat with Dave sounding at his flash cockneyist. Couple of dropped unheard of tracks too. A collectible curio to supplement any Bowie fans collection.
