Helps teach how to shoot ball properly
This shooting form trainer is great. I’ve used it at practice with my youth squad several times now. When I catch a player shooting with both hands, I immediately have them put this on to help teach them proper shooting form. It has helped several of my players already and with time, I think it will help all of them be better shooters. It’s super easy to use and works for both lefties and righties. You simply adjust the strap and slide it on to your off hand, then work on shooting the ball. can’t get much easier than that. It has a slight curve in the palm to help the players catch/hold the ball when they have this on. It also helps mimic the shape that their off hand will be in when shooting the ball, so it creates familiarity/muscle memory for the off-hand. Overall I really like the item and think it’s very beneficial to anybody with a younger basketball team where a lot of players don’t know how to shoot properly. I’ll give the product 5/5 stars and would highly recommend to others.

Uncomfortable
Decent cheap option. Spend a little more money and get the plastic one.

This time next year, watch out!
I am a middle aged pick-up ball player with a broken shot and can only shoot layups with one hand. I have used this shot trainer for one day and these are my first impressions. The unit it self is pretty simple, a thick foam pad with some stretchy straps. My first shot using it showed immediately where I wasn't using my legs enough and flipping my wrist. The surprise is that it just forced me also to not use my second hand to dribble or gather. I was able to switch the trainer to my dominant hand to practice dribbling and shooting with my off-hand! The time I was shooting was right after a rain so the court was wet. I was concerned that the foam would start getting soft, dirty, or even chip/peel. It held up great and barely shows any signs it was played with in bad conditions. Definitely is going to be part of my shooting around going forward.

Like the concept, was tough to keep in place
My son is 9 and loves basketball, so I have done some reading on coaching basketball and training kids to shoot. What I read, which makes some sense, is that kids should essentially *always* be shooting one-handed. If your kid is not able to get the ball to the hoop one handed, they need a smaller/lighter ball or a lower rim. One camp coach said he will even give kids basically toy balls if needed to get them a ball they are able to shoot one handed. Practically speaking, though, that is not always possible. Last year my sons team played with a ball that was a size too big, which his coach agreed on, but it was league policy. ANYWAY, the point is that he started shooting two handed to compensate for the larger size ball, and taught himself to still have a soft touch and to generate some backspin, but it's a lot harder. We have gone back to working on one-handed shooting in the offseason, but his tendency is to go back to using 2 hands when he starts to struggle. His ceiling is higher moving to one-handed, but he is getting frustrated with the growing pains. Enter this product. It prevents him from being able to cradle the ball in the fingers of his left hand, and forcing him to just use it to settle the ball in his right hand and guide the release. Which is exactly how a right-handed shooter should be using their left hand. The only issues were that it was kind of hard to get the mitt to stay in place if he was being more active than standing and shooting, and then the dog chewed up the elastic cord and put it out of commission. Would recommend for coaches, especially if you can keep it away from your dog.

Good idea but doesnt seem to work very well
Maybe its me with how I am trying to train my kids but they have a hard time grasping the concept of how to use this to properly hold and shoot a basketball.

Didn’t like it
Rubber x underneath the pad would rub against the ball. Son didn’t like it: would be better if it was smooth.

Should work to help kids with shot form
Takes the not shooting hand out of the equation for working on shooting form. I think it could be improved if the rubber that holds it on your hand didn’t stick out on ball side. Ideally there should be no friction on that side.
