Yes, but hardly by more that just the weight of the magnet at 1". Why not just use a rock?? :>)

I would not place them in a microwave. They have a chrome coating that I would think that they would create sparks in your microwave.

Yes they will - they won't stick to stainless steel but should easily work through a sink that is made of 1/8" thick stainless steel
