Excellent Customer Service and Support!
I recently purchased this PCIe Firewire 400 Card for my computer, but I had a bit of a "user error" moment. When I opened up my case to install it, I realized I actually already had the card installed from a previous build! Even though the mistake was entirely on my end, this company graciously allowed me to return it. It is so refreshing to deal with a seller that is helpful and makes the return process smooth and hassle-free. A few notes on the product: Versatile Ports: With 3 x 6-pin and 1 x 4-pin ports, it’s a perfect setup for connecting older Firewire devices like cameras or external drives. Solid Quality: Based on the card I already have (which is identical), it works perfectly with Windows and provides a stable connection. Great Value: The price is very fair for a 4-port expansion card. If you are looking for a reliable IEEE 1394a card, I highly recommend this one—not just for the hardware, but because the company stands behind their customers!

Works well on Windows platforms. Even Windows 11.
Worked great with my windows computer running cubase14 with a older Focusrite pro14 fire wire interface. Will not work with an Apple product running Sequoia or the previous version of iOS.

Absolute garbage - AVOID!
The name of the manufacturer is not listed anywhere on the card or the box, and there is no documentation, which tells you everything you need to know. These cards are the tech equivalent of trash-quality "fast fashion" clothing. You get what you pay for. My first card would not function - fully up to date Windows 11 detected that it was plugged in, but could not detect what it was. It just appeared as "unknown device". Forcing a legacy driver on the device, which should not have been necessary and definitely should have worked, did not work. Returned the card as defective. The replacement card was obviously a return from someone else - the box was torn, the static bag had numerous creases from re-use, and the cable was missing. I didn't feel comfortable putting this one in my PC, so I returned it as well. I drove down to my local big box computer parts store, bought a name brand card for 3x the cost, and it worked first try. Judging by other reviews, whether or not you get a functioning card is a total crapshoot. Save yourself the frustration and find a better option.

Easy way to add FireWire connectivity to a Windows 10 desktop ...
I needed Firewire to transfer old video material from some very old video cameras. This plugged into an otherwise ordinary Windows 10 machine and it works just fine. Easily worth the very modest price.

Worked only ONCE, so capture all you CAN before shutting down.
I had a lot of mini-DV tapes to download and digitize on computer, and this looked like a reasonable and inexpensive solution. The price was very affordable, and it was easy enough to install - crack the case, find an available slot, seat the card and clamp it down with a screw (not included so I had to hunt one down) and spin up the computer. As described in the writeup, the setup was THAT easy. When I spun up the computer, it recognized the card, installed it, and I was up and running. I captured all the video off one tape, and shut down, expecting to pick up with the second tape the next day. No such luck. The next day I spun up the computer, and this Firewire card was nowhere to be found. I looked in Device Manager, had it rescan for devices, still MIA. I powered down the PC, cracked the case, removed the card, and reinstalled, reseating the card carefully, but after a powercycle the computer STILL could not find that card. I found another interface, this one is following Woody to the Landfill.

Good price and a card!
The card works as described in my PC. Had to download free software to capture video in to my computer with my firewall card.

Works excellently on windows 10 with the legacy driver installed
This card works well. Windows 10 immediately recognized it and installed the driver. The problem for me started when I opened Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and it could not see the camera. Even the Sony software could not see the SONY Handycam DCR-VX2000. After a short chat with DeepSeek AI, I did a web search for the legacy driver and Startech has a support page with thorough steps for installing the driver. You have to follow the steps exactly to get the driver installed, and viola my legacy software now sees my legacy camera and I can digitize those videos I recorded. And since I have a box of tapes I can go out and record more videos and digitize them! I am indeed a happy camper. This budget solution, enabling me to install a card in my 12 year old computer makes me happy, and one month before Microsoft stops supporting Windows 10. Great solution. I recommend you purchase this card to help you connect your legacy devices to your computer.
