I recently purchased the BabyDan Premier Pressure Fit Stair Gate, and I am thoroughly impressed with its quality and functionality. This gate is perfect for securing openings between 73.5-93.3 cm (28.9-36.7 inches), and it has been a game-changer in keeping my little one safe. The installation was a breeze thanks to the pressure fit design—no need for drilling or permanent fixtures, which is perfect for our rental home. The gate is incredibly sturdy and well-made, with durable metal construction that gives me confidence it will last for years. Plus, it's made in Denmark, which adds to its appeal for me. One feature I particularly appreciate is the dual-locking mechanism. It’s easy for adults to operate with one hand, yet secure enough that my toddler cannot open it. The gate swings both ways, making it very convenient for high-traffic areas. As an added bonus, it doubles as a pet gate, effectively keeping our curious dog out of certain rooms. The clean, white finish blends seamlessly with our home decor. Overall, the BabyDan Premier Pressure Fit Stair Gate is an excellent investment for any parent or pet owner. Highly recommend!

I never though I’d have need for a baby gate, but acquiring an 8-week old Border Collie puppy soon changed that opinion. It took only 24 hours to realise that she was a master escape artist and that we’d need to rethink our strategy for restricting access to areas of our home. As I’d never had experience of baby gates before I was a little overwhelmed by the number of products available on Amazon, but a bit of sifting through the reviews landed me on the pages of various Baby Dan products. I had a few challenges in finding the right sizes as our house is a 1930’s structure built by someone with scant regard for standard sizes of door openings and stairwells. Most baby gates seem to fit within the 760-950mm range, which was frustrating as our doors are 740mm wide and the stairwell 1020mm. My search was therefore narrowed significantly down to basically this product. As standard this offers a narrower fit than most products, however I chose the option with the additional extension pieces allowing me to fit it anywhere in the house. The product is very sturdy and appears well made. I’ve installed it at the bottom of our stairs using all of the extension pieces included within the kit. It came with two instruction sheets, and I have to say that neither were particularly clear. I’m a flat-packed master but even I had to take a step back for a moment to figure things out. Even now I’ve got a couple of pieces left over that I’ve got no idea of their purpose. That said, once in place the gate feels very secure and has so far stopped our little Houdini getting upstairs. The operation of the gate requires a button press while simultaneously raising a handle to unlock the gate. Once unlocked you lift the gate up a fraction which raises it over the base bar and allows you to swing it open in either direction. As we’re using it for a dog, we don’t bother using the locking mechanism as it is a bit of a faff, but not too bad. At the end of the day it’s about security and it does the job well. Along with the gates I also purchased some wall protectors separately. Although this product does come with some, they are quite small so don’t spread the force over much greater area than the fixings so if you’re keen on protecting your walls/door frames I would recommend paying a little more. On the whole though it’s a very good product and the greater range of fitting width is excellent.

Fab stair gate. Feels very sturdy and it’s the nicest looking one I could find. The app with video instructions of how to install was really helpful. It’s a little hard at first to open with one hand but you get the hang of it eventually. Love that it’s adjustable in size so we can keep the extra bits for if it ever needs to be in a different location or we move house. On the expensive side but it’ll last us forever. Great item!

Bought one of these to supplement the same model that we'd had as hand-me-downs and were already using effectively - the reason we bought another. For us this is a child stair-gate. Simple to use, with pressure tightening screw fixes make these quick to install. They get a little more complicated if you need to extend, which is down to the width of the stairwell/door you want to gate. Unfortunately this is an extra purchase, so check the width you need (off the top of my head this gate works up ~76cm, and greater than that you need the extension kit). Gate is robust, and easy to use opening catch is child-proof and manageable with 1-hand and feels like a quality build. For the price this is everything you need from a child stair gate (you pay more, you'll get fancier designs, but this is fit for purpose).

When the gate arrived the instructions were not the easiest to understand. With a little bit of common sense and looking at the components it seems quite straight forward. Just ,make sure the red grommets are not visible when tightening up. Once in position it does not seem that secure but once fastened it locks tight in the aperture. As described it is a pressure fit so it is at its most effective when fastened. Glad we went for this type as it does not include any drilling, so the walls are still in good condition. Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant gate. Handle can be a little hard to open so we just dont close it all the way. Fit the gap nicely with extender pieces to spare. Would buy again.

For someone who's not the finest at DIY, the BabyDan Premier was an absolute breeze to construct and install, with the provided instructions being as clear as day. Once installed, the pressure is shockingly tight, requiring a genuine full-strength tug to actually shift it, yet alone the attempts of a 1 year-old! Opening and locking is as easy as can be, and adjusting is as simple as cranking the nut with the provided wrench. No complaints whatsoever!

Fitting Parts missing and there is a gap of 1 cm, so it doesn’t fully lock. It’s a shame ..

This is perfect when you can't or don't want to drill holes in the wall. It's easy to install and there's many sizes to choose from.

I have 2 of these. I bought the first one for the top of the stairs so I installed it with the screws and everything and it works perfectly, the second was for the bottom of the stairs so I just put it by pressure and works fine too, so overall great doors, easy installation and sturdy enough ...so far... I'm sure my little monster is going to keep trying to take it down...
