Gore Bike Wear Men's Contest Soft Shell Jacket

I bought this jacket last winter and pulled it out again today for the first time this season because we have temps in the high 40s and big gusts. With a short-sleeve t-shirt underneath, this was just the ticket.This jacket is highly breathable, but does an incredible job of blocking wind. I wouldn't take this out in a downpour, but it's repellant enough to protect you from the elements in a light rain or snowshowers. I used this at temps between 0-50 last year, and it performed well at every temperature.My one complaint is that it's a touch short - and I have a very small torso to begin with. This won't swoop down over your butt like some jackets, but I wear it with high-backed cycling pants, so the combination is just fine.So far it seems durable - it survived a trip over the handlebars with me last year, but that was the only time I had occassion to rough it up.I'd like side pockets, and wish it had some, but the breast pocket is good; I've never used the back pocket. I also prefer a manual cinch for the wrists but the elastic works just fine. The reflective piping on the back is great.Would definitely buy it again; this jacket is a great value.

Gore Bike Wear makes my favorite outer layers for riding. I bought this one size larger than I'd usually wear with the expectation that I'd be laying underneath and have used in temps from 0 to 45 degrees with great results.Fit is nice and relaxed but doesn't get floppy loose. It also is nice and stretchy so not restricting at all.It also has an outer pocket in the center of the back which is great, I dislike jackets without this pocket as they always come in handy. It's also deep enough to hold a water bottle if you need it.Thickness is just right if you're laying so it's on the thin side but really works well. By itself wouldn't be overly warm which means you can use it in temps above freezing without an issue.Only drawback in my opinion is the lack of venting at the armpits. Most of these types of coats have underarm venting and I think it should be part of every winter cycling jacket design. Saying that I still really love this coat.

Well designed jacket! Have used for a year now,Temps. as low as freezing,Cuts the wind from top to bottom,You can control warmth by 1 or 2 thermal layers underneath .Semi snug fit ,soft shell fabric eliminates wind noise,and flapping. Mp3/ phone chest pocket is perfect. Has withstood many washings ,even the white.(I prefer to hand wash). Highly Recommend .Bonus; I got it for a fantastic price.

I am a large but the XXL works best for me without being too big. Great jacket that blocks the wind and lets you sweat. The front zipper pocket is a great place for the cell phone in a baggie.Watch out for the Gore jackets that have removable/zippered arms. The opening for your arms is too small and cuts into the arm pits.

Okay, so this is the first bicycling jacket that I have owned intended for this specific weather, but I love it. Work with a long sleeve shirt or arm-sleeves, this thing is good down to near freezing. I'm a 41-tall and the XL fits perfectly...tight enough without strangling.

Great fit, very comfortable, seems to breathe as claimed and is windproof. So it does what I bought it for, function and good looking jacket. If you want that buy it.

The zip is not red, but white. It's not a problem.The jacket protects from wind and cold in an exceptional way. Very well.
