VERY comfortable and still look great
Been wearing these for 3 months now, and have had no problems. VERY comfortable and still look great. The "Buttero" finish is what I got, and although it looks good, the finish will flake off a bit where your shoe bends which is why I gave these shoes 4 stars, not 5. Using black polish will fix the problem, however I wish they did not flake at all. Other than that, I have been wearing these shoes daily with no issues, and once broken in they feel as comfortable as sneakers. I ordered size 14, and I am 6'2" 300lbs, these have held up very well. I am not getting the problem with the breaking soles that some are complaining about, however I will update as necessary.

Very shiny, but good
These shoes are very shiny... almost like patent leather or plastic. They're shinier than my taste but I'd spent quite a while trying to find the perfect pair of Doc Martens to replace my old "Boston" model. I decided to keep them just until I found another black pair with the matte finish but have been wearing them daily for a few weeks now. They fit perfectly and are just so comfortable that I haven't even looked for another pair. I think they're keepers but would really have liked to get the same exact style in an oiled leather, that's why they only get a 4 star review. If you're a fan of shiny plastic looking Docs, these are the ones for you.

These Docs were super cheap compared to buying them directly from manufacturer or ...
I have had these shoes for one year now and I definitely have some issues. These Docs were super cheap compared to buying them directly from manufacturer or one of their stores and that is one reason I made the purchase. I thought I was getting a GREAT deal! I have multiple pairs of Docs and when comparing this set to any of my other pairs, something is just not right. The leather is cracking and the soles seem to be more stiff compared to any other set that I own. I contacted Dr Martens directly and asked them if there was a way to ensure that my shoes are the genuine article so to speak and they informed me on 07/26/2016 via email that they do NOT sell directly to Amazon!! Based on that they can't guarantee that the shoes are genuine and not counterfeit. I have never owned a pair of Docs that did not hold up for multiple years before they really started to show sign of wear. I only wear these shoes to work and I only wear them 2-3 times a week. I work indoors at a computer all day so they get very little wear overall. If you are looking for a new set of Docs then I would highly recommend putting down the extra money and buy directly from Dr Martens. When I contacted Amazon about the issue after receiving the email from Dr Martens they really could not do anything for me except tell me they would look into it. I hope this helps you make a more informed buying decision.

They are also comfortable. I am picky about shoes that are not ...
Doc Marten's are a classic that has the backbone to be a classic. Of all the shoes that I have worn in my life it by far outlasts the rest. I usually get about 2 years out of each shoe with daily use of 10,000+ steps in the rugged terrain of Central America. They are also comfortable. I am picky about shoes that are not that comfortable or that provide no arch support. Not so with these puppies. There is one minor issue I've had with Doc's. They are very heavy, somewhere in the likes of a pound and a half a piece. But truthfully, I no longer notice it. An additional point I really like about Doc is meeting someone and them saying, "Are those Doc Marten's."

They're shiny!
Have owned several pairs of docs in the past - usually the muted out or matte finish. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the description on these so I was a bit surprised. Black is black right? These babies shine like a pair of wing tips or prom shoes. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. I'll give them a try and see how long the gloss finish holds up.

I would have liked the leather to have been a little more dull
The shoes are far more shiny than the picture suggests, I would have liked the leather to have been a little more dull. The buffalo leather is not as pliable or nice as cow leather and breaking in (even for Docs) is not a pleasant experience. However after the first week the feel is great and no complaints, they are now comfortable.

Squeaks like cop shoes
I've been wearing Doc Martens for years. One of the few shoemakers for comfortable size 14 shoes. These particular shoes squeak like cop shoes. I don't know if it's the material they used or the insoles I put in them. Either way, I got these at a good price and they fit fine. I'll definitely buy another pair of Doc's in the future.

This model has some common glue issues with the sole.
Like some other reviewers, I had defective glue on the sole after a couple months of typical wear.. I contacted Doc Martens about the issue and received a response"Thanks for reaching out. Dr Martens does have a warranty against manufacturers defects and factory errors. The warranty does not include issues with natural wear/tear, worn down soles, fit or comfort. Please provide pictures of the footwear from all angles, noting the issue at hand. Please include pictures of the bottom of the sole so we may advise as to how we may be able to help.Consumer Relations Dept.Dr. Martens AirWair [email protected]"It looked like they were going to have wonderful customer service. On the contrary, I replied with the details and pictures as requested, but they did not reply and subsequently have not responded to any of my followup requests over the past month. I'm very disappointed in their customer service on this issue. Like a large segment of their customer base, I've been wearing their shoes almost exclusively for the past decade or so. Looks like I'll have to switch brands. I'll update if they ever get around to responding.*update 02-27-2017*I received a request for contact info to begin the claims process one month after replying to their original request for details."*The return process generally takes 4-6 weeks.""Once we have this information we will send you a return authorization letter. It will provide you with instructions and the correct address for returning the shoes to us for inspection."*update 03-07-2017*Doc Martens sent return authorization info, so I paid for shipping and returned them on 03/08.
