TRIXES Flexible USB LED Desktop & Laptop Temperature Fan

This is clearly as much a novelty as anything else, but actually the fan isn't bad at all. I have mine plugged into the back of my monitor and then bent round underneath to point at my face about 30cm away. And it provides a pretty decent gentle breeze.The problem though is with the extra functionality. In case you missed it (and it seems many of the questioners and reviewers have), there are 3 different models to choose from. One displays a clock, one a customisable message (assuming you have Windows 95 I imagine), and the last shows the temperature alongside some inspiring messages. I went with the latter, and this is where the problem starts.The main reason I went for the last model is that it shows the temperature - I wasn't expecting anything too accurate, but thought it might be interesting. The messages it displays were for added kitsch value.Unfortunately the messages are stupid and the temperature doesn't display. There's just a gap where it's supposed to show, according to the photos. So, as a thermometer I have to give it 0 out of 100.The messages are definitely kitsch... there are 4 that show in rotation, in more ways than one. Each shows in turn and then rotates around the fan for a bit and then animates off. They're really quite annoying, spinning round in your peripheral vision and can't be turned off. The 4 messages are:"TAKE IT EASY". Sounds a bit defensive, like the fan thinks I'm about to hit it. Either that or it just likes The Eagles."HOT SUMMER". Bit presumptive. Might be a particularly mild autumn. Would also be more relevant if the thermometer worked and it could back up this statement with numbers."BE COOL". Makes me feel like Yolanda in Pulp Fiction. But, y'know, fair enough. Who doesn't like to be cool?"I LOVE YOU". OK, this is where things get a bit weird. How does my USB fan love me? And why would I want it to love me? Is it grateful for being plugged into a power source? Does it really enjoy spinning round, not telling me the temperature? I've been seriously concerned by this message for about 5 minutes now, and it raises all kinds of disturbing existential questions. Also, I just called a colleague over to check out my groovy new fan and this message was displaying, making it look a bit like I'd programmed it to say that to him. Awks.Oh and also, the fan is actually quite good, so that's why it gets 3 stars. Just wish I could turn off the spinning, flashing, surreal messages. Or see the temperature.Just buy the one that shows a clock instead.

I needed something for when I am on the laptop, and this is it, does what it should, couldn't ask for more.
