CarharttMen's 105841 Rugged Flex® Relaxed Fit Canvas Work Short - 8 in

This is my second pair of the Carhartt shorts, the first being more like carpenter's shorts. These are still good quality but they stopped making or selling the first type. They are a comfortable fit for me; 5' 7" and 195 lbs.I like these and would buy them again.

Awesome fit and material

I really like these shorts, they are durable and comfortable and the waist is true to size. The only downside is the pocket hole openings are a little bit small for my hands that I have to put my hand in at the right angle and squeeze it through a little bit.

I've got a couple pairs of these for my summer time carpentry work and a couple pairs that I keep nice just to wear casually. They are great. I'm a stocky guy and oftentimes I wish that they had a little bit shorter insane but they're not bad. Like others have said the drawstring is a little weird and I've always cut it out. However I just realized that since it's placed on the inside if you don't need a belt you can roll it over to shorten the length a little bit! I need a belt for working but for casual use this does okay.

Best shorts I’ve owned

For someone like me who has short legs and a bit of a belly, finding comfortable work shorts can be a problem. As a handyman, I do not like cargo shorts on the job. Too many difficult to access pockets. There are no flaps or velcro on these and the inseam is short enough that the bottom hem is not below my knees. The stretch waist with the draw string makes them very comfortable around my waist and I can choose to wear a belt or not. The material is also a very comfortable cotton.

Carthart shorts are extremely durable. Great for hiking or yard work the 10 inch inseam are nice I like the 8 inch better however if buying the 8 inch inseam beaware that the cell phone pocket will fit your cell phone great however the 8 inch inseam leaves about 1-2 cm of the cell phone sticking out of the cell phone pocket - easy picking for a pick pocket if this is a concern I have also experienced the cell phone may pop out of the cell phone pocket if extremely active with 8 inch inseam never happens with 10 inch inseam shorts no matter how active you are
