Elegant but earthy and grounded

Commercial product, pretty, and a good price
This chawan appears to be commercially produced by molding before being glazed. Not as individual and unique as the totally handmade chawans I have purchased from individual potters. But, it’s well made and very nice, especially for the price!The glazing is skillfully done with subtle gradient colors from cool blue at the lip to warm, brownish orange at the bottom. I think it’s much less orange than the Amazon photo shows, leaning more toward brown. The other colors are quite accurately shown. The interior is mainly smooth with just enough of a satiny finish to make whisking pleasant, yet is easy on the delicate tines of my bamboo chasen/whisk. In part, I bought this with the thought that I would bring it on trips without risking one of my expensive chawans. I know. I know. Another matcha addict on the loose. I would highly recommend this!

The media could not be loaded. This cup looks and feels serene in hand, and classy, the ritual of tea, but the tea gets cold quickly.

Simple, tasteful, beautiful.It is intentionally imperfect in terms of surface finnish, which lends it a rustic hand-crafted aesthetic.Not much else to say - it's a pleasure to use and to make tea in.

Davvero la foto non rende fede alla qualità e alla manifattura della tazza.La preziosità delle sfumature dei colori è apprezzabile solo una volta che si ha la tazza tra le mani.Ne ho acquistate due, in due tempi diversi, ed il fatto che non siano perfettamente identiche dimostra che si tratti davvero di un prodotto artigianale.L'abbondante peso della tazza, (circa 400 g !) dà una sensazione di robustezza oltre che di buona capacità termica, utile a mantenere caldo a lungo il tè versato.
