Affordable, High-Quality Kibble That Dogs Love
I’ve been feeding my dogs the ACANA Wholesome Grains Red Meat and Grains kibble for a few months now, and I’ve been really happy with it. It strikes a great balance between quality and price—it’s one of the better options out there that doesn’t cost a small fortune. My dogs seem to really like the taste, and they transitioned to it easily without any issues. One thing I noticed right away is how their stools became more solid, which is always a relief when switching foods. The ingredient list is pretty solid for a kibble in this price range. It’s gluten-free and made with beef, pork, and lamb, so it offers a nice variety of proteins. That said, while it’s a great base food, I’d recommend adding some toppers or fresh ingredients to give your dog’s diet an extra boost of nutrition. Things like cooked veggies, eggs, or even a bit of fresh meat pair really well with this kibble.Overall, this has been a great option for my dogs, and I feel good about the quality I’m giving them without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for an affordable yet high-quality kibble, this one is definitely worth trying. My dogs are happy, healthy, and energetic, which is all I could ask for!

Wholesome nutritious dog food
Upon receiving and initially opening the food, my dog was very interested, sniffing the bag and eating a couple handfuls. After that initial feeding her interest level decreased. She will still eat the food when she is hungry, but does not get excited over it or run to her bowl when we fill it. What I have noticed with my dog is that she tends to get excited over dog foods which contain different sizes and flavors. And with her being 12, she really loves softer meatier bits. I believe if this food had a size and flavor combination or a bit softer pieces, it would have elevated her preference from liking this food to loving it.As a dog mom, I really do like the ingredient list including 60% protein-rich animal ingredients + 40% wholesome grains, vegetables, fruit, botanicals and nutrients. The ingredients include some of my dog’s favorite food combinations like chicken and fish.I would love to see this same formula remade with the few adjustments I have made above.

Great dog food!
Love that this food is 65% animal products without all the presevatives and additives. I myself cannot say that I have tried it but my corso seems to love it! My dog has eaten this since he was a puppy and he is a spunky, healthy, energetic, well grown boy! Packaging/bag is very strudy (great for shipping) and also love that it is easy to open. (I have tried some dog foods that you are lucky to get into!) Definitely recomend to anyone looking for a healthier option for dog food.

Update: Free-Run Poultry, Real Chicken & Turkey and Eggs
Update: Free-Run Poultry, Real Chicken & Turkey and EggsThis is the 3rd type of Acana and the 4th dog food ive tried for my very sensitive dog. The free run poultry has been the only food not to give her gi upset. Her acid reflux went away and she doesnt get wet or hard stool. I've tried royal canin, acana rescue blend and acana limited ingredients food with bad results.Old: I have had my older lab mix rescue on this food for several months hoping she would do better with it than she did on royal canin. Unfortunately, the issue got worse. She has heartburn regularly and itchy skin. Vets were saying it was from seasonal allergies but it's all year. Finally, one of the vets said it's her food then. She told me to add a tsp of olive oil to her food every other day and give her cottage cheese as a probitic. I have been doing the oil for a week and will add cottage cheese once she is more adjusted to the oil. Based on my own research, I divided up her food to twice a day. I also, take away her water for an hour after meals and make sure she doesn't get too excited or playful after earing. The problem is better. I also read about slippery elm powder. I have her on a little of that and working up. I just found out labs have a tendency to be allergic to beef, chicken, and salmon. This bag has a lot of beef products. So maybe that's an issue with her. I am still going to use this brand, and change her to the Duck and Squash recipe or Lamb and Apple from Acanas Limited Ingredient Diet. I read those are better for sensitive dogs. Hopefully it works. Not sure what else to do if it doesnt.
