SMOBOT WiFi Kamado Grill and Smoker Temperature Controller (Big Green Egg)

I bought the ambit for a Christmas present for my husband in 2022, he finally installed it and started using it in 2025. It was the greatest! Didn’t have to worry about the temperature. We have used it 5 times and now the lid is coming off, I have contacted smobot and will update once I hear back

I purchased directly from the company, but feel compelled to tell all of Amazon that SMOBOT is the only controller you ever need.(1) accuracy - fire up your BGE, and let SMOBOT keep that low and slow cook going overnight. What do you do? SLEEP SOUNDLY!(2) efficiency - ever get annoyed that the Egg Genius burns up a ton of coal for a low and slow? Yeah, it's because it's constantly blowing, and super inefficient. SMOBOT fixes that issue by using BGE's own venting system, but continually adjusts the top vent to keep the temperature stable. You'll be blown away by how little charcoal your kamado burns after a 12-14 hour cook. No joke. It's kind of unreal how efficient it is.Is it expensive? Yes. But so is a flameboss or egg genius. Is it better? Heck yes. Don't think twice about SMOBOT. The company stands behind this flagship product to boot!

Very neat idea, easy to setup, but it is not accurate (-5C) compared to other thermometers I have used plus the one on the green egg. Very very slow to adapt, so for example it starts getting too hot and it will keep opening up so the temp keeps going up, then it slowly starts to close and then goes way under the target temp. I think buying the system that Big Green Egg sells would have been a much better purchase on my part.Update, even though Eric as Smobot was very responsive, it still is not optimal. Eric suggested a different starting method (electric), so I bought that, he also suggested only to use the Smobot for low cooks, I did that, told me what types of charcoal to use, so I did, and he finally suggested a charcoal alone burn, which I did. The Smobot was too slow, and could not maintain temperature despite the suggestions. I can not recommend this device. I am very disappointed to have been encouraged to do a few things that cost me money only for it to still fail. I appreciated the help from Eric, but in the end it was not helpful, which contributes to my frustration and disappointment with the Smobot.

I researched obsessively when trying to make a temp controller decision for my Large BGE. I went with the Smobot because of the simplistic design, and how fuel efficient they are.Couldn't be happier with my decision. Set and forget it device that's ultra simplistic. Their customer service is top notch as well. Any questions i've had after the purchase are immediately answered via email.Buy with confidence
