The Balm Base You're Paying Double For Elsewhere
Awesome AS balm. I buy artisan shave company balms and I was certain a few of them were just buying some balm base and adding their scent to it, and this is the stuff. There are several popular shave supply artisan brands who are using this base and charging $15-$25 for the same amount. So, with this one you get a very faint updated Brut Signature fougere scent, which is perfect for a balm that will precede you preferred aftershave and scent. THIS IS NOT CLASSIC BRUT. This is Signature Brut. It's a much milder and more modern scent. Buy the Classic Brut versions for the old Brut scent. I personally prefer the Signature scent by a mile. Classic Brut smells like 80s-90s men's locker rooms with protein powder diarrhea toilet flushes wafting up in the background. This Signature scent is more a subtle base scent that will work perfectly for balm and deodorant and a very laid back aftershave. Most people over 25 don't want to blow out a room with their after shave stink. The bad reviews are likely from people who thought this would be Brut Classic.

Dissapoinment with this product.
I have used Brut Deodorant for years; and I bought this after shave lotion thinking it would have the same aroma; but unfortunately, the aroma of this lotion was completlely different and very, very bad. So I do not recommend this product at all. The aroma name of this After Shave Lotion is 'Signature Scent', same name as the Deodorant.

Not bad, but there are better available
I'd rate it 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm not willing to round it up to 4. As a post shave moisturizing balm, I think it's a good, but not great product. It's competitively priced and not a bad value, but it does leave something of a residue, a very light one, that you can feel unless you rinse it off afterward. As far as the fragrance, that is a matter of taste, but those who were expecting Brut's signature fragrance (which they advertize it as having) do have a legitimate gripe, because it doesn't match. The fragrance to me is not unpleasant however. I'm neutral on the fragrance myself and it isn't the primary driver for me in a moisturizing balm. Indeed, it is subtle enough, I don't see that as an issue either way, but if one bought it expecting Brut's splash on fragrance, you'll be disappointed. You can splash on a fragrance over this and it won't greatly interfere with it though, and that thins the light residue some.I would recommend Duke Cannon Aftershave Balm over Brut. It moisturizes better, doesn't impart a noticeable residue, has a subtle fragrance and also cools and tightens the pores without alcohol. It's a superior product in my opinion and is a better value $/oz than Brut moisturizing post shave balm, but unfortunately, not as currently listed here. I bought mine at my local grocery store for just under $10 for the 6 oz bottle in July 2025.I'd encourage you to compare their ingredient lists and try both to see for yourself as I did. Brut isn't bad to me, but I think Duke Cannon is better.

Brut After Shave Balm
A great shaving balm to apply after shaving. My husband loves it and it smells so good.

Does not smell like Brut.
There is almost zero scent and it definitely does not smell like Brut! Lastly it feels heavy on your face as in you can feel it clogging up your pores. Total waste of money
