Great Refurbishment, Great Price
Genuinely surprised by how well refurbished this is. Packaging was being my expectations, and I really appreciate the seller for resealing the electronics in plastic wrap to protect against water, repairing the Styrofoam inserts, and rewrapping the OEM cables. With regards to the "refurbished" status, the speakers were in good condition with the only damage being a minor dent in the subwoofer rear corner. As for the price, I would say this is a good price for refurbished speakers as you are getting a Samsung speaker that is better than it's $400-500 midrange lineup.

BASS & volume - not too pricey
I wanted bass & this one has BASS. All tv's in my house are samsung with these soundbars. I love that there's no setup. Connect it with 1 cable & plug it in. That's it.

Great sounds
I think I purchased this reconditioned to match with a Samsung QLED tv. So far, works perfectly although the Q-Symphony setting seems elusive. Easy set up, sound is loud, perfect & clear, works perfectly with the remote, sports broadcasts are in-stadium/arena quality. Horror movies are eerier with the sound separation. Bass in the music makes one want to move! Happy with the purchase.

I'm impressed... now
Once I hooked up this system to my 65in 8k samsung tv, I was first disappointed how loud the center speaker was when I used it with my Dish Network. Bass was fine. But hardly any sound from the back two speakers so wasn't sure it was worth it. Not much better than just having a regular soundbar. Downloaded the samsung app for the 990c and played around with it to not much better. Was about to return this system but decided to play around a bit more with the app on my tablet, I turned the center speaker all the way down to 0 and the rear speakers all the way up with the app. Well thank heaven I did. The small room I live in just lit up! With the app I can turn bass up and down, Change rear speaker volume and still the center speaker is set at 0 what a concept, I had no clue it worked that well. Now my whole living room is flush with sound even with Dish Network lame sound. The sound comes from everywhere. Amazing Even better when I adjust the app for Movies from Dish also. So glad I found this out because now I want to buy a Blueray to replace the LG that failed after 6yrs. I've tried the sound on multiple Dish channels. (some better than others, after all it is Dish LOL) But mostly very satisfied with all channels. If You have Dish Network (maybe even Direct TV I don't know about that) and limited sound like me and can get a good deal on a refurbished 990c, do a Youtube review and jump in. I'm glad I didn't return this system and found the app to fix what wasn't even broken and realized why I bought this from the reviews in the first place. Hope this helps.

Shoked at what a soundbar can do!
I have been a long time home theater nut and use to sell high end home theaters on the side. I still have my high end system and love it but I have to admit, this system shocked me for a second system. We had the Vizio elevate atmos 4 piece system before this and while good, it could get buggy and the sound was just passable. I was really thinking about ditching the vizio and using a conventional 5.1 system as I still have an atmos receiver, speakers and sub that are not being used. The wife didn't want a bulky system though and after reading the reviews on this I deceided to give it a shot. This blows the Vizio out of the water, not even close. The surround envelopement is so good we sometimes think the sound is coming from someplace else in the house. The sub is lacking, but good enough for my wife. I am use to insane bass so I am biased, have a spare JL Audio Fathom F112 that I wish I could use in it's place. It does have some little quirks, a lot less than the Vizio, but overall it is the best soundbar I have heard, I am sure the Nakamichi Dragon is probably better, but for that price I am doing a dedicated system.

Great for movies / games. Better than expected for music
I hesitated with Sonos Beam or Bose Smart 300 soundbars. Sonos bothered me with their limited app, no Bluetooth... and aI tested a Bose Smart Soundbar 300 in the same price range. For movies, video games, it's very good and balanced. You can really set your system up pretty easily for your room. I like the night mode that limits the sound dynamics. I am a bit picky for music, and I had a pretty good surprise I must admit. While the pure stereo mode is a bit disappointing, I was surprised by the surround mode for music, which I always fear to be like hearing a speaker in a huge cave... Not this time! It's actually precise, and adds a lot of clarity to voices, with a very good balance between instruments, voices... Now, it's a 300$ soundbar, right, not a $2000 high end sound system dedicated to music, but honestly, I did not expect it at this level, hence my 5 stars. If I could add more nuance ( because I am picky on music), it would not be a 5.0 , but more a 4.8, which is still a very good grade!

Could be great, but as it is, just average.
So I've had my 990c for about a month now. I rewrote this review to try to be a bit more fair, as it originally trashed this soundbar. So, for movies, it is pretty amazing, the surround effects are pretty good. You'll find that to really get the most from the 990c, you'll need to have your volume at a fairly loud setting, in my case that's 18 and up. The rear speakers are pretty weak, and don't really get involved until an action scene plays, and then they kick in. The same can be said for the HORRIBLE subwoofer. It's non existent at lower volumes, and "kicks in" at higher volumes, which is hugely disappointing, as having good bass at lower volumes is pretty important to the overall sound. The main bar itself is pretty amazing. Very clear, and dialog is spot on. You really need to install the smart things app to make sound adjustments, as the remote really sucks for that. But the app is pretty easy. Also, be sure to update the firmware, the current firmware is 1004. Now for me, I got this as much for music as for movies, and I assume that at least some of you intend to do the same. In that respect, the 990c is at best, average. The reason why is the TERRIBLE subwoofer, or, if not the sub, the firmware, which REALLY limits its output until it gets to a higher volume level. You'll find that below say, 12 or 15, the sub is almost non existent. Once you get to those higher levels, it seems to "turn on" and You'll have decent bass from there. But, in my opinion, you should have great bass at any level, not when some engineer decided you should, and as far as I'm concerned, this is a HUGE flaw in the system. I also have a Vizio elevate p514a-h6 5.1.4, less than half the cost of the 990c, and it is nearly as good for movies, and definitely better for music, with a great, unrestrained subwoofer, and better overall control of the sound. Even my $150 Vizio V Series, with a 5" subwoofer, has better bass than this. If the subwoofer issue is because of the firmware, Samsung really needs to fix it by letting the customer decide how much bass they want. This system has great potential, but until they fix the subwoofer issue, it's just average. If you search for the reviews that discuss issues with the 990c, the number one complaint is the terrible subwoofer. I question all the experts who claim this to be the best system you can get, short of the $4k Nakamichi Dragon. It isn't. There are some pretty decent systems out there for half the cost. For what THIS system costs, it SHOULD sound amazing,....but with the crappy sub, it doesnt.
