The Pope's Exorcist [DVD]

Brilliant, superb Crowe in the spirit of the best 60's horrors. Well worth a watch.

Scary good film

enjoyed the script but had to keep playing with contrast and colour to see it

I didn't watch this film at the cinema when it came out. Weird, since I love horror movies and especially anything that deals with demons and possession. My mum, who hates horror movies, did watch it and she actually recommended it. But still, I didn't watch it.Then I decided to buy the dvd, since reviews were clearly quite good, but I never completely trust reviews, since movies like The Nun and The Exorcist Believer, have been deemed horrendous by many, but I did enjoy them.This one ticks all the boxes of an almost perfect possession film. First of all, even if it's an American production, it still has a very European feeling, that helps to keep the film more "down to earth", instead of having the usual American way of dealing with faith matters (very theatrical).Also, it doesn't hold back with the language and most of all, the story is so much more than the exorcism and Father Amorth. The story is more about the Catholic Church and its sins.

String story great acting

I had hoped for a more academic rendering ,but I guess this was what people who like this genre will find satisfactory.For me,there was too much shouting and banging about.

Enjoyed the film and like its based on a real man of cloth as chief exorcist, I put the DVD on without looking at who played what, kept thinking this guy looks familiar, then realised it was Russell Crow, and must say he did a great job, I do think evil is around us, as he said what good the Church if evil does not exist.Seems he was fighting not only for sick people, but the church as well.Well worth a second watch.Recommended...
