He provides a thumbnail sketch, but like the rest of the book, his conclusions are based on years of research, a deep understanding of the “Viking world” and supported by other experts in the field. Each section is well-organized and accessible. Archer not only provides information on some of the more famous Viking myths, but touches on some of the more influential figures that have been passed over for the showier characters. “The Book of Viking Myths” delves into origins and influences, reflecting that this mythology didn’t appear or exist in a bubble, but was touched by the various cultures the Vikings visited, and in turned, left an indelible mark on the world. Peter Archer’s excellent “The Book of Viking Myths” offers readers a unique understanding of Norse mythology, allowing the reader to jump in with both feet, and whet their appetite for more. While certainly academic, Archer brings the myths to life in such a way that even a causal reader will be better for having picked this book up!

I adore this book.It is a informative,entertaining,and whimsical read.It speaks of folklores,gods,and the ways of the Vikings and their lifestyle.If you are intrigued by the Vikings as I am,you will not be disappointed to purchase this one.

Neat stories

I give it 4 stars because I really like the content, but the book itself isn’t great quality and I was super disappointed to open up the box and find a damaged book. All of the corners and specifically the spine are either torn or bumped due to a combination of it being packaged with zero protective material and cheap cover paper and printing. The slight relief of the title doesn’t even line up with the printed text. That being said, the book reads well, has little history quips, and is pretty easy to follow. A great introduction to Vikings, their known history, and their impact on western culture.

Amazing book on Viking culture and mythology. Easy to understand, expertly researched, this is now my go-to Viking reference book.

Best book on lore I've found to date. I've even bought college books written by professors still no where near as perfect as this one.

Started to read this & its absolutely amazing draws ya in. But stopped not cause i didn't like it i wanted to start on the 5in1 bible. But i will be back on this book straight away.

A very good book. Well written and in a style that is so easy to read. The chapters are short and precise and written well enough for a child to understand. Have read it a couple of times already, in a couple of months. So easy to just pick up and dive in anywhere, to read just a chapter in a short break or sit down and read in one go. I would definitely recommend this book to Heathens young and old, new to this belief or a long time believer.
