It is stainless steel/ chrome. There are small openings all over it to let the air circulate. I love this set

What do you use the angled spatula for?

I use it as I would use any spatula, however, the angle is particularly useful when I make omelettes. It's great at lifting the edge of the omelette to allow the uncooked top to move to the bottom to cook. It also makes flipping anything from pancakes to salmon croquettes a breeze.
