Yes Madam!
This film was a HK smash hit when it was first shown in 1985. If you watch it in now, you will still notice this as the movie that popularise the female super cop characters (eg In the line of duty 3,4).The copy I ordered was from Amazon itself, it had Cantonese and English audio. Both audio sets were fine to me.Why 4 stars?Well, I felt that the main attractions, Michelle and Cynthia did not get enough screen time as much as I would have liked. A proper interview and a biography showcase of Rothrock should have been included as everyone knows that she made her name first in HK before being famous in the USA.It's a pity Cynthia and Michelle could not have made anymore movies together as I really enjoyed their work in this film.Despite the flaws, this action film is still worthy of collection for those that like women martial kicking!1986 Hong Kong Film Awards1) Best Supporting Actor (Hoi Mang) as Aspirin2) Nominated Best Action Choreography (Corey Yuen + Hoi Mang)3) Best New Performer (Michelle Yeoh)Like this? Awesome
This is a really great movie if you like this kind of thing. The story is a bit standard, but not terrible, and the characters a bit over the top. The action is really great, and it's quite funny in parts too.Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock look really good, and the fights are very well choreographed. Their main opponents are Dick Wei and Chung Fat who are always good. The end fight is great. The music is pretty cheesy, 80s style, like most of the decor and costume.I got the Hong Kong Legends version on DVD so the picture and sound were good. The extras were a bit lacking.

A let-down, but not sure that's the film's fault.
I was really looking forward to this film. The DVD cover is awesome - look at it! The title promises non-stop action and a slight ambiguity. Are there police persons who are also part of a squad of clandestine assassins? Or are the police themselves being assassinated? Either way, it promises an intriguing storyline, hopefully with heaps of action. So I was actually a bit disappointed. Apart from the opening, very brief action scene and the final showdown (which, I'll be honest, is damn good) there is hardly any action in this film. It seems instead to be one of those cheesy HK comedies, like My Lucky Stars (although the humour isn't quite as broad and naff as in those films). That's not a criticism of that type of comedy or the Lucky Stars series, I really like those movies. However, this wasn't what I was expecting from this.I think Hong Kong Legends have to take the blame a little bit. The aforementioned cover, and UK title, do not accurately represent the film. And their promotional trailer really focuses on the action. Is it the fault of the film if it has been mis-represented by the distributors? This should have been released under its Hong Kong title of "Yes, Madam" which is a perfect title for the film! There's not really any assassins in the film either. Police, or otherwise! The film has Michelle Yeoh teaming up with Cynthia Rothrock to crack a case of some sort and recover a McGuffin. But instead of focusing on these characters, we spend most of the film with three amateur criminals who provide slapstick farce throughout most of the film. I really wish the relationship between Rothrock and Yeoh had been fleshed out more and we spent more time with them.I didn't hate the film, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I will probably watch again in a few months without the preconceptions and enjoy it more. That said, I would recommend instead its thematic sequel "In The Line Of Duty" (also on HKL), as this really is non-stop action and is much more the film I was hoping this would be.
