~This entire masterpiece drives our mind around the series of intensifying mental traumas of a 12-year-old girl who got afflicted even after she grew up, over an altercation between her parents and the moment her father attempted to kill her mother just when she stepped foot to the threshold of the age of twelve. Eventually, things no longer got affected, and the incident had no such importance where they behaved like nothing actually happened. In other words, the incident wraps up with something that replaced childhood innocence with childhood terror for a little girl.Further, Ernaux throws our attention to the life after she settled down to another place, leaving her native home, and awares us about the description of her private boarding school, which played a decisive role in her life in gaining two ideals: Knowledge and Religion. One day she just stopped being decent and did something that meant something really disgraceful, which went against the principles of society of being a good girl. Later on, she discovered everything happening to her life was synonymous with 'SHAME' which became a part of her living.
