Magnetic Door Stop - Compact Metal Door Stopper Magnet Stainless Steel, style1-magnetic

As the product photo suggests, this is good quality stainless steel. The stay is spring-loaded so that it doesn't matter if it isn't perfectly aligned with the metal disc on the door. The strength of the contact is ideal. It isn't so great as to make it difficult to move the door once it has been secured but, on the other hand, it holds it quite firmly. It's a much neater and more practical solution than the door wedge that it replaces! Be aware that, if there is a significant gap between the door and the floor, this won't work very well because, as is again pretty clear from the photo, the mounting is virtually at floor level. A wall-mounted catch would probably be better in that case.

This door is badly hung and swings to when I mostly want it open. There is a significant gap at bottom when open so I had to make a suitable spacer. This was a little tricky and resulted in the slight inaccuracy in alignment you can see in photo. Nevertheless it all works perfectly and I wish I had fitted this years ago. One reviewer mentioned that their spring broke so it remains to be seen how durable it is. So far so good.

I'm really pleased with this door stop, it's well made & looks good in situ. The magnet is plenty powerful enough (I've actually weakened it a bit with a couple of layers of tape) and the spring loading softens the 'clunk' when the door hits the stop. I purchased to control a door which tends to swing shut if not wedged, and it has proved very effective. I don't really have another door where this is an issue but if I did I wouldn't hesitate in buying this item again.

So simple and yet so effective. Solid construction and the magnet is spring mounted which I didn't expect - I guess this ensures you always have full contact between the magnetic and the steel disc. The magnet is stronger than I thought it would be and would hold open a door with a closer fitted. Recommended.

My friend wedged her door open every time she used the bathroom for over two years! I figured there'd be a magnetic catch and here it is :) We picked up a tile saw bit and we installed this into the bathroom floor. My friend couldn't be more pleased! It is a bit noisy when it makes the magnetic connection metal on metal; but we cut out a couple layers of tape around the catch plate on the door. It doesn't silence the magnet connection completely but it also won't wake anyone at 3am. She's very happy and the catch mechanism is pretty cool as far as a utilitarian product goes.

Use this to hold a shop door open in fine weather but that also needs frequent releasing, the door has a spring closer but it will retain the door( just ) I like the fact its also has a sprung magnet and sturdy construction so it should withstand many hits by the door when customers push it too far, looks the biz too.

Such a strong catch. Easy to fit and pleasant design.
