The original shipment went astray in the care of DPD with the result that they tried to claim delivery whilst showing on their earlier tracking that they had returned it to the seller. Waterontharder realised I did not receive the Amfa 4000 and promptly sent me another, luckily using FEDEX. It arrived today and is now fitted. It's a quality piece of kit and I feel confident it will do what is advertised. The Amfa 4000 has now been in use for a couple of weeks and there is a remarkable difference in the limescale deposits around the taps and kitchen sink. They have virtually disappeared and any that are thinking of staying simply wipe away. The kettle is also staying free of the limescale.

Utter rubbish. It don't work!!

I was a bit sceptical about the product and thought it rather expensive but in London limescale is so bad,i thought i’d give it a try.The kettle was an easy test to monitor .The bottom of the kettle would have noticeable limescale deposits building up rapidly but once fitted,these deposits were reduced significantly.The shower doors appear less tarnished.Its perhaps too early to make a full assessment but my initial experience has been positive.Very easy to fit.

I'll be honest, I don't know if these things really work; but they are easy to install (just cable tie around the pipe where the water enters the house) and I guess they must do something or trading standards would have got involved! I suspect the effectiveness is highly dependent on water flow rates. I got this particular model as it had the highest numbers for the strength of the magnet compared to other units. It is a very strong magnet so bear that in mind when handling it.

Impossible to judge the real response of magnets on solids in mains water. Magnets only work on ferro-magnetic materials, don't they? How much iron is there in our water that a magnet can be effective?? And where do the extracted solids end up, but back in the same water they should have been magnetically extracted from?

In some of the less favourable reviews (in particular one from Italy) they mention that they have tested the water hardness before and after installation. These tests are chemical based but with magnetic water softeners nothing is removed from the water (unlike the salt based softeners) so the chemical composition remains the same. What happens is that the magnet changes the 'stickiness' (the chemical ability to bond to other substances) of the particles in the water. The actual water (H2O) is then able to attract previously existing limescale (which is still sticky, not having been subject to the magnet) and it is 'flushed through' the pipework.

At first when I fitted the water magnet it seemed as if it was working.. This is a huge waste of over £100. I’m really angry because the manufacturer claims you won’t see any difference until at least 6 weeks. By then you can’t return the item. Total rip off! BUYER BEWARE. Don’t waste you’re money. II’m now going to invest in a traditional water softener, which I wish I had done in the first place. At least with a traditional water softener you get a guarantee. A lot more expensive but it’s worth it in the long run. I also want my money back.

We have been having a major issue with limescale at our home the last year. I hated watching out appliances and fixtures be destroyed, and so I started looking into water softener systems to try and correct the issue. However, they are expensive to purchase and then you have to pay an installer. Then, I saw the Amfa4000 on Amazon and decided for just over a $100 with a money back guarantee...Why not. We installed the unit by the water meter by just opening the meter box and digging down on our side of the water meter to expose about 4 inches of pipe, and clamped it on. It is that simple. After installing, we began to see a difference in our water the next day!! Per the manufacture, they say to give the device a total of 6-8 weeks to take a full effect, but if we are already seeing significant changes in days, I cannot wait to see how well the device works when given weeks! Our build up was so bad that my faucet in my bathroom was running very slow and within 2 days it already was flowing better. The water also already feels softer on our skin and hair in the shower, and it even has a better taste. This device is amazing for the price point and they say it should last a lifetime and comes with a 10 year warranty! Can't beat it!!

Install was supper easy honestly had my doughts but works amazing we have hard water usually within 3 day we have yellowing in our toilets tubs and sinks and our water would get salty tasting with our old softener we put this new salt less softener in and we're going on 2 weeks with it and no yellowing water tastes better and feels softer on the skin 100 percent recommend well worth it definitely recommending to every one I know
