More info & better packaging useful
- No country of origin When I requested this, I assumed I'd be able to do a DuckDuckGo search and find a way of testing these. Not so, and I expect a black van parked outside my house any second, with some of the things I searched on. I always think it's lame when one of us reviews an item without using it but I've no choice now. So. Small little booklet. Comes in just a thin plastic zip top bag. I could have wished for a mylar packet, since these need to be protected until used. Back page of the little booklet gives use instructions but is rather sparse. Front page gives the color key for which type of agent the color would be. It works the same as a ph test, fairly easy to do, but understanding the results seems like something that could do with more info. Anyway, a useful thing to have for a prepper especially if they're near any labs or military targets.

Chemical and Gas Warfare Test Strips
My husband has a “Guide to Chemical and Gas Warfare” book from 1958, which is quite the conversation piece. When I saw this chemical detection paper (CWD-2), I knew I had to get it to go with his book. While we won't really have any practical use for this chemical detection paper unless there happens to be a war or terrorist attack, that seems to be increasingly more likely than not these days! And it is possible that exposure to Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs) can also occur from various other sources such as industrial accidents. These adhesive strips from MIRA Safety can test for the following types of CWAs: G = Nerve Gas (i.e., Sarin) V = More Toxic Nerve Gas (i.e. VX, developed specifically to be used in chemical warfare) H = Blister Gas (i.e., Mustard Gas) Nevertheless, if you think there’s a chance you might get exposed to CWAs like, say, from a terrorist attack, you’d be better off having the right clothing and shelter. These test strips won’t help you. About the only thing these test strips are good for is if you’re wearing your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and then you can use these strips so you can tell what type of chemical your clothes, equipment, or vehicle has been exposed to. They’re of no use to someone who’s wearing no protection at all. Look up the poem “Dulce et Decorum Est” by English poet and soldier Wilford Owen. Even though Owen was a pacifist, he joined the military in WWI. He wrote about the horrors of the gas warfare that he experienced. This poem gives you the author’s picture of what it was like during an H-type gas attack and what happened to a man who was hurt in that attack. P.S. You’ll be happy to know that MIRA Safety is a US company based in Austin, Texas. They manufacture advanced tactical gear used by the military, first responders, and civil defense, and they also supply to the general public. I’m glad to have been introduced to them through this product!

Neat product from a great company
A product I hope to never need, but am glad exists. I think the function of these strips speak for themselves, they detect some of the worst weapons of war ever created. Silent, invisible threats. Regarding the product itself, I was a little concerned because it is supposed to have a 5 year shelf-life, but the expiration date printed on them is 2027, which is basically only half that at this point. So I reached out to the company Mira, and asked them about this discrepancy. They replied really quickly even on a Sunday, with very helpful information. Basically they said that regardless of the date printed, the strips will have a minimum of 5 years of life in them from today forward. And even at that 5 year mark, it's not like they just stop working, but their efficacy could decrease or degrade as they get older beyond that point. And also that if they are kept in a cool, dark, dry environment that their quality will be greatly sustained over time. In other words, I'm going to keep them in a zip lock baggie, in a pocket of my vest, at room temperature indoors. I am very impressed with MIRA Safety and their thoughtful, quick response to my concerns. Plus that led me to check out their other products, of which they really have an amazing line of safety equipment. So again, these strips are really cool. I have no way to test them out obviously, and hopefully will never need to find out of they work!

Useful Tool for Detecting Chemical Agents
When I needed a reliable way to detect chemical warfare agents for training purposed, I decided to try out the MIRA Safety CBRN Detection Paper. These color-changing test strips are designed to identify G Agents, V Agents, and H Agents, making them a valuable addition to my safety kit. The strips come in a compact package that's easy to carry around. Using them is straightforward: just expose the paper to the environment and watch for any color changes. The instructions are clear and simple, so there’s no confusion about how to use them correctly. One of the standout features is the accuracy of these strips. They respond quickly to the presence of dangerous chemicals, changing colors to alert you immediately. This quick response can be crucial in a potentially hazardous situation. I also appreciate the durability of the strips. They hold up well under different conditions and don’t degrade quickly, which is important when you need them to be reliable in the field. These detection papers are a practical solution for anyone concerned about chemical threats. They offer peace of mind by providing a fast and dependable way to detect harmful agents. If you're looking for an effective tool to add to your safety gear, these detection strips are worth considering.

Perfect gift for the prepper in your life
So far, none of these paper strips have been used, and I hope they never have to be. They are color-coded so you can determine the threat level you're facing and if you need to protect yourself. The strips quickly adhere to garments and can be worn externally to help detect warfare agents. I have placed these in a plastic anti-static bag with a bit of desiccant to help ensure they last longer. It's definitely something I hope I never need to use, but I'd much rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them, especially considering how small they are.

Ok but packaging?
Well packed, instructions in back page, preserved but aged a little (exp: 2027, now is 2024) and in a clear zipper bag without much of a moisture barrier or anything. I'm still looking for a way to test them for efficacy without bringing them to the base, maybe with a compound I can synthesize on site here. I'll update with results.
