Fantastic desk sharpener!
Great stuff.Small but still with enough grip to not move all all. Cheap too.Not only I could get a fine point on graphite pencils, it does a superb job on pastel pencils and watercolour pencils too. I finally could get a fine point on a pastel without need to grab an x-acto knife.Yes, the instructions came only in German / Dutch / French but given the nature of the product and the telling drawings on these instructions if you don't know to use it because of that,.. just use blunt pencils for your own safety. Will definitely will buy from this brand again.

Good sharpener for pastel pencils
I'm delighted with this sharpener. I've used it to sharpen Derwent and Caran D'ache pastel pencils and it worked really well. I had a few break but think that was my pencils rather than the machine. To remove the stuck bits I followed the instructions which are in English and one time used a fine skewer to dislodge a stubborn bit. A good product and gives a good point, something I haven't been able to achieve easily since they were new in the box.

Good sharpener, watch the settings.
So far, so good. I have been using it to sharpen Carbothello pencils and haven't had any major issues yet. I've had 2 breakages and 1 of those was definitely my fault. Obviously if the internal lead is broken it will snap off - yes this can be a pain. To get the snapped lead out try twisting the setting to the bluntest pencil and tapping to drop the lead out. If this fails undo the two screws at the back (which takes the front section off - the screws hold a long spring in place) and get some thin pointed tweezers to grab the lead.Watch the settings! On the sharpest setting it churns through pencil.. There is around 2.5 turns on the silver dial for sharpness. The brown carbothello was done on the sharpest setting, the blue was done on about 1.5 turns from full sharpness - I think that's good enough for me. When sharpening pastel pencils just go slowly. If I have any major issues I will update. Now June 2021 (4 yrs ish later) - my 5 yr old also uses this frequently to sharpen her pencils.. and it’s still going strong..Still going in 2024.. and being used and battered regularly by two small children 🙂 including having kinetic sand shoved in it 🙄

does what it says on the tin
Reasonable build quality, cheap, sharpens the childrens' colour pencils well without a mess. Adjustable tip profile, auto stop works well, overall happy

This sharpener worked brilliantly for about a week on every type of pencil ...
This sharpener worked brilliantly for about a week on every type of pencil I own then started to fail - badly. It now won't sharpen any. The mechanism that pulls in the pencil doesn't work any more and leads get chewed up. I am severely disappointed in this product because it had very good reviews from professional pencil artists. Back to my hand held sharpener I think.

M + R Hand-Crank Sharpener - top marks!!!
This product was reviewed on YouTube and lives up to its top rating. It is an excellent product which is light enough to carry comfortably in an art bag. My personal use is for pastel pencils, which this sharpener handles perfectly. Just keep the end stop screwed out to no more than one turn.It is simple to clear if a point should happen to break off in the sharpener head. Just seconds to clear and re-assemble. Buy with confidence.

Sharp point
Watched a YouTube video comparing pencil sharpeners. This one works best for me as I use polychromo and Pitt pastel pencils and I can get a really sharp point. I can’t get a point on my cheap pastel pencils though, the wood gets chewed up, so I use a blade for those.

Did not last so long
Sorry to say it was not fit for the job more than one year. Sorry I also bought two M+R for grandchildren. Will next time buy some with more quality and hope they last longer than a year. Hard to find a good pen sharpener for desk use.
