No , but my husband drilled a half inch hole in the bottom. We are really pleased with the fire pit - burns really well.

Q: Do you need to coat this with heat resistant paint does it rust

We have had ours 2 years and it has been great. We haven’t treated it and don’t need to as it hasn’t rusted other than surface discolouration. We don’t leave it outside on a permanent basis but use it throughout the year so it is left out overnight as it cools down and in all weathers. I seem to recall that the steel was oiled but I haven’t needed to re-oil it unlike previous cast iron chimeneas which needed constant paint treatment.
