I loved this story as a child, but my memory of it was a bit vague. Having just bought it for my children (aged 4 & 6) I have re-discovered how wonderful it is, and they sat and listened mesmerised by the wonderful story and lovely illustrations. I really enjoyed reading the story to them too - which is always a bonus! Highly recommended to anyone with young children.

I had forgotten about this wonderful book until reminded of if in a random twitter conversation. I'd loved it as a child about 40 years ago and now have a son of my own, so I just had to get a copy to share with him. Amazing what great memories it's sparked. It's a beautifully drawn tale of imagination and creativity. Get it!

I bought this for my grandson and years ago I had also bought it for my son. It's an easy story for both children and adults, involving a little boy drawing parts of his world with a purple crayon as he experiences it. The only colour on the page is the result of his purple crayon. Brilliant.

I got this as I remember it from my childhood, think there was a cartoon of it. Remembered it one day, couldn't remember the name, but searched for magic crayon and this came up - I was so happy. My husband had never heard of it, he read it to our kids (who both love it, 6 and 2) and he was stunned, he said it's genius, full of philosophical ideology and very, very cleverly done. Funny too. What more can you ask for......

I bought this book for my eldest two year old Grandson's Birthday and he was absolutely delighted with it and likes reading it with his dad.

This is a very pleasant book which I had and loved when I was little. I bought it for my little granddaughter. She is still a bit small for it but I believe children should have a bit of challenge. Any child I've ever read it to, has loved it.

I bought this for my 3 year old niece as my sister and I had enjoyed it so much as kids. Interestingly enough, neither of us could remember the story, but that's not what's important. The pictures had stuck with us - they are so alive and really fire a child's imagination. My niece loves it and carts it around the house, demanding that any free adult read it to her. That surely, is a good enough review!

We came to know this book very late, but we brought it for our 4-years-old since then it has become his favorite. For fun, every time we read we choose a random color crayon, and most of the time we choose blue because it is his favorite color.

The book is amazing. It has simple illustration and only two colours but explain fantasy to the kids. Through the simple line that the young Harold trace with his purple crayon a world is revealed.

On adore cette histoire. C'est vraiment poétique.

Got this on behalf of my MIL to gift to my son. They saw the movie together and wanted the book as a keepsake. A beautiful book with an important and wonderful message. Definitely a keeper.
