A good addition to any Baroque collection of enjoyable music by a second-tier composer. In structure, it is probably most like the music of Geminani.

Und dann können Sie gleich beim ersten Satz des ersten Stücks sehen, wie die vier Soloviolinen aus sich sequenzhaft wiederholenden Figuren, z.B. drei Achteln plus einem Viertel, ganze Geschichten machen, indem diese durch alle Solisten wandernden Figuren ausgefüllt, verändert, beantwortet und ausgesponnen werden. Ornamente werden so nicht zum rein verzierenden Selbstzweck, sondern werden zu affektiven Erzählungen. Man spürt, dass das Ensemble 415 die gesamte barocke Verzierungspraxis beherrscht, aber nicht nur zur Effekthascherei, sondern um sprechende Musik zu präsentieren. Großartig.

Beautifully sounding recording! Technically polished and nuanced performances.And the music! More daring and experimental than most of the music of Vivaldi and Corelli. Lots of surprising twists and turns both harmonically and melodically.If you love Baroque music and are willing to venture beyond the standard repertoire, this disc is a great place to start.Highly recommended.

I approached this cd not because of the music which I did not know (who does?) but because of the orchestra, Ensemble 415 under Chiara Banchini. I admire their superb recording of Albinoni's Sinfonie a Cinque op 2 (which I also recommend very highly) and so I took a punt on their cd of a fairly obscure Italian Baroque composer. The music is charming, but then the lingua franca of the Baroque practically guarantees that. However, what raises this cd to the level of a necessary purchase is the quality of the performance. It is superb, alive to every nuance; it is as though the music were being created in front of you. Highly recommended.
