These palm leaf plates are fantastic! I buy them for every gathering I host. They’re sturdy enough to hold a full Thanksgiving dinner, and they’re always a conversation starter. We used these for my daughter‘s wedding reception. We received a lot of compliments on how cool these plates were and loved that they were biodegradable. They are definitely sturdy. We kept a few and washed them. So far I’ve only used those twice so not sure how long they will last.

There's a considerable amount of color variation from plate to plate; that doesn't bother me at all, because they're made by putting fallen palm leaves in a steam press with a little starch (or some other biodegradable goop) to hold them together. They are also sometimes a little wonky, in that they are not completely flat. Again, this is not an issue for me. I like that these don't involve pulping thousands of acres of planted monoculture softwoods, and they represent the reuse of what would otherwise be agricultural waste. (Oil palm trees, I assume.) They have a smell that's a little weird, but it dissipates within a half hour of spreading them out on the table before using them. The trimmed edge that turns them into circles is also not sanded to a finished edge, so knock off the little shreds of fiber before you put food on them. Overall, I think that they do the job they need to do well enough, that they're sturdy, and handle wet food without soaking through.

Great for a party. I've used these for years. Look great and much nicer than paper plates.

These ranged from vanilla/beige color to brown/black tone. If you are ok with that, they are great!
