Barlean's Essential Woman Supplement Capsules, Women's Flaxseed and Evening Primrose Oil for Hormone Balance, Omega 3 6 9 and GLA Acid, 120 Count

Perimenopausal gal here. After 3 years, I ALMOST made it a year to be considered Menopausal, but then had a day of spotting… anyway, the hormone fluctuations were no joke- hot flashes making me wake up in a panic because I felt as though I might spontaneously combust… irrational thoughts- even jealousy?!- what?! I’ve never been jealous even a little- until perimenopause. Taste changes seemingly day to day: out of 7 of my top flavor Nespresso coffees that I keep stocked - only 1 tasted great and 1 other tasted ok- the rest were intolerable. My favorite champagnes tasted like throw up- what?!?! That’s just the drinks… I’m a healthy gal who isn’t on medications, slightly overweight- more so now that menopause has hit— what is with the mid section?!?? I also use a Lumen to know when to quit fasting and I must say it’s telling me I’m in stress mode/ carb burn constantly EVEN AFTER A 5 day fast…. (Big sigh). Apparently I need carbs now (another big sigh). My usual ways of losing weight aren’t working…(keto & fasting). I’m trying to gently exercise with a few bursts of pushing it ). That’s my back story. My search for help lead me to supplements - seed cycling, certain oils, certain herbs— adaptogens… Maca and ashwaganda with an herbal supplement that contained Shatavari among other lovelies and my body switched into high gear- off the charts libido— (not in a good way for me). My moods were high, energy high, and despite not doing anything any differently, I gained a few more pounds… after a few weeks all that leveled out and I read somewhere that Shatavari causes weight gain- CRAP! I guess ‘fat and happy’ is a thing…. On to find something without Shatavari… I also tried the plain essential woman liquid and found the taste to be gritty and off putting. I persisted and consumed it all— but then bought the chocolate mint liquid- this one was tasty- even though I found it odd to consume chocolate mint anything in the morning. I really bought the gels because it’s starting to get warm out and the thought of ordering a product that needs to be kept cold was worrisome. So now, I have both and find the gels the one I reach for. I also use them for traveling. All in all these with my menopause supplement have helped me maintain hydration for intimacy, normal moods, no hotflashes- and reduced flavor changes. I haven’t lost any of the weight I had gained, and my Lumen still says I’m in stress mode, but I feel normal and getting 100% sleep quality most nights so I’m not complaining!

I have taken two of these capsules every day for at least 30 years. The quality has been very consistent. I feel like they give me the essential fish oils needed for maintenance for my body. Any new doctor seems to be impressed with the way my nails, hair, and skin look. I keep the bottle in the fridge and have never had a leaky capsule. They smell a little like iron but have no taste . And there is no burpees to remind me all day Great product

I would not necessarily categorize this as “unflavored”. It definitely has a gritty, oily, nutty taste to it. It’s not bad if you take it straight, but you may want to mix it if you cannot tolerate it straight. As for the efficacy, I will have to report back as I’ve only taken it for 3 days so far. It has a very good amount of Omegas in it, so I’m really hoping it helps. :-) I also contacted Barlean’s regarding the “lead” warning sticker attached to the bottle and this was the response I received “Thank you for reaching out regarding your question about the Prop 65 label. We must have the prop 65 warning per California’s guidelines of products and to be sold in California’s area.. We follow the guidelines of the FDA for the amount of Cadmium and Lead that is allowed in production.” Perhaps the warning label should be included in the pictures and description when folks are ordering so that they are not alarmed when they receive the product.

This is an excellent vitamin for women.

Be careful if you are trying to conceive with these. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to use these daily. (I'm Steven's wife). If you are using them trying to conceive a baby, use them with caution. I didn't know that it could suppress ovulation if used daily. They are soy isoflavones and should be used like you would use Clomid, on whatever cycle days you take Clomid (they vary based on doctor's advice). Supposedly, many women have become pregnant using this product. I've been using this product for years for many reasons. One of them is it cures my dry eyes! It helps regulate the menstrual cycle. Now that I'm trying to conceive, however, I am not going to take them daily as before. I will only use it at the beginning of my cycle. I also believe this product caused a false positive result on a digital ovulation kit. It happened twice, while my regular strips were negative, and when I tested again later in the day with the digital, it was suddenly negative again. So, I believe this is a powerful product and for that reason, please read up on soy isoflavones and for what you are using them for. I like the fact that these are encapsulated and I don't have to drink down the bottle. I've been using Barlean's products for years. They work!
