I bought this for setting but height in a router table and shaper. It works great with better reach than the more common woodworking height gages. Also, has metric and imperial measurements.

Works great and solidly manufactured, but buttons are floppy

Good product, but I convert it into tool indicator for a line boring system

I read all of the reviews, and am convinced that many people either expect a $40 measuring tool to have the same quality as a $500+ tool, or they just like to be nay-sayers, or don’t know how to use it. This is a fine height gauge for $40. I am totally pleased. Of course it needed some calibration (it was not square to the base) but by loosening a set screw and using an engineers square on a surface plate the problem was quickly solved. Regarding the flatness of the base, mine was fine. If there is anything lacking, I would say that it takes some patience to set the gauge to a specific height since it doesn’t have a good micro adjustment feature. Just as you would set a caliper for manual scribing, the same process is required with this tool. No big deal. Learn how to do it, practice, and you won’t be frustrated. I would recommend this product to anyone who, like myself, has a home machine shop working to reasonable tolerances. I don’t plan on making parts to a +/- 0.0001” tolerance since my lathe and mill are not capable of doing so. I do, however, expect to make parts that are within +/- 0.001” and this height gauge is sufficient for that task.
