old emo book about artists from the 90's
Heard about this on a pod cast. Surprised my daughter with it! I couldn't find it at book stores. Amazon had it in stalk.

Well-written & highly enjoyable
I borrowed the audiobook from my local library app and enjoyed listening to the stories and the history. My brother and I enjoyed listening to that genre during that time period. I loved it so much that I bought a copy for him to enjoy as well.

Great for the elder emos
I started listening to emo music around 2001 with bands like Pedro the lion, dashboard confessional, and midtown and grew as the scene did and the amount of bands that I loved that are in this book is insane. I grew up as a scene kid in southwest Missouri and had no idea how many other kids had the exact same experiences I did until I read this. Amazing book and so happy I bought it

Very well done
Oral histories can be a tricky thing to pull off well, depending upon the participants. Chris Payne gathers a veritable who's who of the emo scene, and just about all of them are top notch storytellers. The heavy lifters here are Mikey Way, Pete Wentz, and particularly Gabe Saporta. Notably, at least one member of just about every band mentioned is interviewed, and their experiences form a tapestry by which the whole scene and its disparate factions came together and virtually invented a genre of music. This book will draw you right in.

Nostalgia
Great book! Sadly was a badly printed copy, damaged front cover and misprinted pages. Amazon wouldn’t fix the issue, but glad to have it anyway.
