Toyama Koshihikari Rice 1kg (Pack of 9) | Premium Japanese Short Grain Rice

It is very difficult to find a short grain rice better than this in the UK when cooked correctly in a rice cooker. It is a true Japonica rice and sourced from Japan, as opposed to packaging that looks Japanese but comes from the USA or Italy. The downside is that it is expensive, however, once you taste the quality, it is difficult to go back to the cheaper rice. Only one near to this quality is Korean rice, but it has to be very carefully cooked to get a similar texture. I use an iH rice cooker with a special setting for cooking the rice which runs a program that extracts the trapped in flavours to within the rice but takes much longer than boiling it in a pan.

My family’s love this rice, it make you miss Japan, highly recommend this rice, just try it and you will love it. It’s good to make sushi in the UK, you can’t find this rice in other chain store Japanese restaurants in the UK!

Undoubtedly good rice, quite sticky yet not as much as nishiki premium grade medium grain. Rinse it thoroughly the "traditional japanese way"(rinsing a lot until almost clear, pour most water out and "punch" the rice a bit, then refill and keep rinsing until the water is pretty completely clear, then you can also let it dry in a mesh sieve for 30-60 min whereafter you soak it for 1-2 hours before cooking it, makes a lot of difference in stickiness) if you want it for "normal food"(try mixing with some jasmine/basmati long grain rice for an even less sticky rice, or adding a bit less water could make it somewhat harder/less sticky). Perhaps less rinsing might be good for making sushi or other stuff that requires very sticky rice. After doing that rinsing and all, the rice I got with my zojirushi rice cooker was similar to the rice I'd get at a china/asian restaurants and suits asian type food very well. I prefer this above nishiki any day, but it was sadly quite old when I got it, only having around 4 months shelf life left, rice is better when it's fresher. That should be a matter of luck or timing when you buy it though. That there's 9 bags of 1kg each is a great plus, I don't like those giant bags that take a lot of place in the kitchen and if something happens to a big bag, you'd have to throw A LOT out instead of just a few hundred grams. This is the perfect size to keep somewhere in your kitchen while storing the rest of the bags somewhere else.

Recommend this product, really convenient as it comes in 9 separate bags so no need struggling to keep one large bag moisture-free. We use a rice cooker and this comes out soft & fluffy. Will need a few washes in cold water to remove excess starch before cooking. Helpful to have next-day delivery from Amazon Prime too!

Really amazing sushi rice that requires very little seasoning due to its natural sweet taste. This rice has elevated my work lunches and is so easy to cook.

This rice is delicious, easy to prepare and stores well. The 9 smaller bags are perfect for me as I can keep 1 in the kitchen and the rest in the pantry.

Good quality. Has to be my sister law who is Japanese eats it... And she likes fine food. X
