HC3 - Varilight - Classic - Polished Chrome - 1 Gang 1 or 2 Way, Push on/Off, 400W Rotary Dimmer Switch

A really good quality dimmer with a smooth knob and very little hum from the unit. Really easy to install with the included screws but attracts finger prints really easily. Using mine to dim 8 35W GU10 lights and it works great. The dimming knob can be removed easily to clean the base plate which tends to get dirty with finger prints. Unlike other reviews, my dimmer is the perfect size and has no sharp corners. Included are instructions on how to wire the dimmer and recommendations to set up LED dimming (NOT SUPPORTED) or to set up a 2 way light dimmer system which was a great help for future expansion. Great product and a really good price!

These work 1 in 10 times. I have experienced flickering, not dimming, coming on very little, not coming on at all....I have had 2 separate electricians come out to see whether there are any other issues with the electrics at my home, after trying different switches I have come to the conclusion that these switches don't work properly . Save your money and don't bother buying them. Unfortunately for me my cleaner threw away the packaging by accident so I don't think I can get a refund.

I have given this rating 4 stars because after having compared and price checked various Dimmer Switches on offer I chose this one, and so glad, it was easy to fit and works absolutely brilliant.A better replacement than my original, very good value for money and fast delivery.My only negative comment is the packaging, it was in a large cardboard package, too big to be posted through my letter box and because I work Mon-Frid and couldn't be at home to accept delivery, postie sent it back to my main sorting office which I had to go and collect it when I could, otherwise I would have given this 5 stars...

A good quality dimmer switch with a nice finish, has been installed for over a year now with no issues. It's very quiet with no noticeable electrical buzzing noise like you sometimes get with dimmer switches. I have it dimming four spotlight bulbs in my office.

I like the Varilight product range as you can often guarantee a certain level of quality. This dimmer switch is no different. Easy to install, it has a good finish and robust knob.Only draw back (and I suspect this is inherent in most dimmers) is the "hum" you get at low settings. It's not enough to keep you or your baby up but it would be ace without.

easy to install, device seems to be very well made, the polished chrome looks great, certainly way better than the light switches i had, now i am going to buy more and get the whole house looking good

Worked fine and was easy to install, but the metal plate is a bit flimsy and was bent out of shape when I (over-)tightened the screws.

Slightly smaller than a normal switch 1 or 2mm so standar surround is too big so can't use the surround. Otherwise great switch delivered on time and good quality product
