Exactly as Advertised! Works Great!
I've owned 7 Reachers over the years, most of them supplied by doctors or hospitals, but I've got to go on record as saying this Sammons Preston has the rest beat. This is the second one of these I've owned. The first one worked so well that I gave it to my roommate here in the rest home because he was constantly dropping things on the floor and I got tired of getting them for him. :-) just kidding. Seriously though, of all the brands I've owned, this brand delivers 100%. It's lightweight, and fits comfortably in the hand. The trigger has enough of a curve to allow even those with arthritic hands grip with ease. None of these reaches are made to handle heavy weights, but using common sense will help you obtain what you want. The higher you reach the harder it is to get a firm grasp on an object. Don't try to get a large can or jar off a top shelf - experiment first and learn what you can/can't do.This Sammons Preston reacher is very sturdy. The Jaws open up 3.15 inches. It has a soft upper pad which is actually superior to the serrated pad, which is hard rubber and doesn't mold itself to the object you're trying to grab. There's no "play" in the claw, unlike every other reacher I've had. That gives me comfort knowing I'll have a good grip on whatever I'm picking up. And, I just checked, I can pick up both a quarter and a penny off the floor on the first try. It has a 1/4" magnet in the tip - compared to only 3/16" on all of the others. To sum it all up, the Sammons Preston Reacher is not only eye candy, but it performs as well as expected, and that is superior to other brands.

Great tool - pick the right length!
I got this for my mom after surgery and it works wonderfully. Strong grip, good quality and easy for her to use. However I was in a rush and just ordered without really looking at the size options. I got the smallest one and would prefer a size larger to reach item better. Remember to measure based on who will be using it, better to size up in my opinion. Overall highly recommend and would buy again.

Very good for certain things.
I already had one of these Sammonds Model 4109 reachers that I got in the hospital when I had my stroke. I've found it very useful in getting my pants started up my legs when dressing, for example. This reacher IS NOT for getting things out of a cupboard. Get a PIKSTIK for that. But it's good for pulling curtains, certain dressing operations, etc.I bought this one as a backup to my original, & to keep in my camp trailer as a dressing aid. The reason for only 3 stars is that, as received, it wouldn't work at gripping anything I used it for. (The trigger hit the stop before the jaw was closed)They've done a slight re-design of the trigger since my 1st one was made & the cord has a crimp-on little sleeve instead of the knot in the cord like my old one. No problem with that, but the sleeve was crimped in a way that the trigger wouldn't pull the jaw closed all the way, so it wouldn't grip what I bought it for. However, by carving away some of the grip where the trigger stopped, I was able to get the jaw to close tight so now it works as good as my other one. This is the kind of tool that you have to use ingenuity to see just how helpful it can be. An example is that I couldn't zip up my sleeping bag very well while camping. I put a loop of cord through the zipper pull, then filed a notch in the little plastic bushing that's screwed in the end of the Reacher. Now I can unzip the bag way down to get in & use the modified end to hook the zipper pull to close up.

Useful
Works as expected. This is a replacement for misplaced reacher. Got red color this time to spot it more easily. Can be very useful in house to grab wet clothes from deep washing machine, to grab objects after surgery to avoid having to get up, and in yard to pick up twigs/small branches.

The best gripping/reaching tool I've ever used! 17 years until dog bit off the handle.
Very durable, easy to grip items as small as kitty litter pellets up to a gallon of distilled water for my C-PAP. I can drag heavy objects to me to then pick up manually and I can lift or grip small items. I have used this exact brand of gripping tool since Jan 2006 after a very very bad fall. Strong and durable it helps because I can hardly bend and its hard to reach with both shoulders having been damaged as well as the back so I have used this model gripper since that time. After my daughter's german shepherd decided to chew the handle off. I replaced it with the same brand and model. I found their name and phone number stamped onto the plastic inner liner that protects the pulley cord and I found that Amazon carries this brand which I was happy they were still in business. I have tried other grippers with little suction cups and spring mount grippers and folding collapsible stylers but they are all a joke compared to this gripper.I still have the old one, I tried to throw it away but it came back. LOL The garbage pick up people thought it was left by accident outside so they didn't take it with them. Now it is my outdoor gripper for picking up stuff there. With an arm reach from my palm to my shoulder of 20 inches and a good 30 inch of reach from the wand I can grab pretty much whatever I need to.If something is breakable like a glass bottle or such, unless very small, I don't grip them. Plastic bottles or paper Yes! In the picture I show my original with a taped up handle next to my new one Even so it's still usable with a little tape but can't pick up anything heavy because of the broken handle. In the last picture Im holding a quarter gallon jug of distilled water. I usually pull it, when full, by dragging it to me but here its 3/4 empty so I can lift it with no problem. That way I can put the water in the reservoir tank of my C-PAP breathing device. This is well worth the money spent.

Fair reacher
Not as good as other reachers. The jaws don’t open up as wide. And if it sticks and you don’t pay attention and the handle will pop it off the hook.
