This butter crock has been both useful and a conversation piece. I get compliments on it all the time—it's a pretty little addition to the kitchen counter and works just as well as it looks. The spreader is a nice bonus too.It holds one stick of butter perfectly. To refill it, I just leave a stick out until it softens, then use the wrapper to press it into the crock—easy and mess-free. I change the water about once a week and have never had any problems. The butter stays fresh and spreadable, and I love having spreadable butter on the ready. Definitely recommend if you want something functional and nice to look at.

i’ve been using this for months now and i’m very happy! very good quality and i’ve never had an issue with keeping my butter fresh. butter stays in place and it’s very easy to use. easy to clean and I add a bit of salt to the water before each new stick.

I love this product! You must follow the instructions for successful use. When you refill the butter crock make sure it is dry and cool. I always press the softened butter into the crock.

I enjoy real butter on my toast or my fresh, warm, homemade bread! Having this nice looking butter container so my butter isn’t rock hard is a great plus.

You need to know, as a tip, that the butter holder needs to be tap, compacted, several times, do it on wood not directly on the counter it could break, before put it on the water. When you don't do it and those are the reviews I saw, the butter doesn't stay and fall into the water.

I've heard about using a butter bell and decided to try it. I didn't want a really big, bulky one, and this one is the perfect size. It even comes with a cute little butter spreader.It holds one stick of butter (or 1/2 cup). I used Kerrygold salted butter, softened, to the point where you can leave an indent if you squeeze the stick. Too soft and it'll be harder to spread inside the bell.To spread, make sure the bell is totally dry, use the back of a spoon and really pack that stuff in...all around the edges, and then the bottom, working your way up. You want to prevent any big air bubbles in the butter so it doesn't fall into the water reservoir.As you can see from the butter pic, I have a couple of tiny bubble holes in the butter, but it didn't make a difference. I've had this butter in the bell for about a week, It's still fresh and soft, no rancid smell at all.I keep the bell on the kitchen counter and change the water every day, to just below the fill line in the reservoir, sometimes every other day if I forget. It's best to use salted butter...it stays fresh longer, and I keep a small container of salted water in the fridge to use when I change the water, as salt is a natural preservative.Obviously, it's working because after nearly a week on the kitchen counter during 85 degree temps outside, the butter is still perfectly soft and fresh with no mold or rancid smell.So if you're tired of ripping your bread or muffins to shreds trying to spread cold butter, then you need this butter bell. It's a game changer!
