I think most babies can complete the card up to the four-star challenge and I believe it is possible to complete the five-star challenge card if your child is willing to persevere with it. It will work on your baby's concentration and hand-eye coordination.

How old is this stacking toy for children?

I think it can be played with by babies between 6 months and 3 years and this is really a 100% wooden toy which is healthy for kids.

Would it be a good Christmas gift for my 1 year old niece?

It certainly fits! I gave it to my 1 1/2 year old daughter as a birthday present and she had a ball playing with it! She seems to love the animal prints on it and she can play with it for hours at a time.
