Bit pricey.... but does a great job
I thought it was a bit pricey but if you want an optical drive conversion.... it does a great job

Excellent and works on Linux
Took a chance and bought this to add an optical (DVD) drive to an Ubuntu 22.04 box. Worked out of the box. Build quality is good and the Samsung DVD drive fitted perfectly. Would be 5 stars, bus as others have said an EU only PSU is supplied which can be easily replaced but that's additional cost on top of an already premium price.

Looks great.
The price you pay for style! Looks great, really good quality. I fitted an LG blueray external drive and it fits perfectly. On the pricey side for what it is. But I don't regret the purchase.

Pretty good, except for the Euro plug
I'd previously tried the OWC Mercury optical drive enclosure, but it was too short in depth to fit my Pioneer Blu-ray drive, so I thought I'd give this one a go. Unlike the OCW one, this does fit my Pioneer drive, but with very little room to spare, so old it could still pose a problem for some drives. The enclosure is just a rebadged OEM one, so you might be able to find it for less under another brand name. It's reasonably well made, but the plastic end pieces that hold the two metal halves together probably wouldn't hold up well if the enclosure was dropped, but as it is a desktop drive, I wouldn't expect it to be as rugged as portable drives. After assembling it, I plugged it into my Windows 11 PC and it was recognised straight away and I had no problem reading data off it.The biggest issue is that Icy Box have cheaped out on the power adapter, which is a 2-pin euro plug affair, which is bizarre as a power adapter with clip on plugs would have allowed them to target many more countries, including the UK, Ireland and America.I tested the drive with an adapter, but it's quite a clumsy solution, so I'll probably buy a replacement adapter with a UK plug.

no problems
Bought because current computer has no optical drive slot, and still need to occasionally use the old drive. This works perfectly, the drive fits into the enclosure, flush at the front, and the included screws secure it. The drive was detected straight away (on Linux). There was a UK plug included in the box (unlike in one of the previous reviews).

Does what it says on the tin.
I’ve used this to revive an old full size internal BD drive from my old PC. Few minutes to install, plug and play, not much else to say. No point binning old drives which are generally of better build quality when you can keep using them with something like this.

Not sold with a UK plug
Given its sold in the UK, this isn't acceptable. I had to spend £10 to buy an adaptor for it to work. Also, I'm not convinced this wasn't already used. The "seal" on the box was loose and the instructions state to remove screws in order to slide the optical into the housing but all the screws were already removed. All in all, not happy. It's already a very expensive item for what it is and to then have additional cost on top is not acceptable.

Good quality but overpriced
The enclosure is good quality and installing a drive is straightforward, but it is overpriced for what it is. You can buy a decent Blu-ray drive that reads BDXL discs for the same price. A SATA adapter is also much cheaper so the premium for the metal is not really worth it. Even worse, the box includes an EU plug rather than a UK plug, so you need to pay extra if you don't have a spare cable.
