I've only just received it but it seems robust enough to last.- I find the swing-out probe easier to handle than the fixed [straight] thermometer I used to use.- I really do not understand the review that claimed this was "very poor quality". Its design & manufacture seem fine to me.It needs an AAA battery [which is not included].- I haven't yet managed to find a low battery to test the "LOB" indicator that the instructions mention.It seems to agree with my old [mercury] kitchen thermometer so I assume that means it's correct.- It's default reading is in Celcius so there's no messing about to do. [The instructions tell you how to swap it to Fahrenheit if you need to.]- It is supposedly accurate to whole degrees. That's more than good enough for me.- It also displays points of a degree which is handy for helping you to see when the reading has settled down. [But don't expect that final digit itself to be stable, the thermometer is not that accurate.]- I haven't bothered to run the calibration procedure. [I can only guess but perhaps the complaint in another review about it not calibrating correctly was caused by an incorrect expectation that it would calibrate to within 0.1C rather than the 1C that it is actually capable of.]- The instructions contain a list of 'correct' temperatures for various foods but I haven't bothered checking if the list is correct.It takes 10 seconds to give a settled reading.- It's more or less there [within a degree] after 5 secs. So that's going to be good enough for me in practice.- It takes a minute to settle back down to show the room temperature after use [even if it is shaken or wiped clean]. So that will stop me fussing every few seconds re-checking things unnecessarily.The auto-on/off works.- It turns itself on when you unfold the probe than it turns itself off when you fold the probe back against the body.- It can be a bit awkward using the off button. The auto-on does not work the next time until you manually turn it on once using the button then allow it to turn itself off again by folding the probe back against the body again.--- Hanging it up ---- The magnet is OK and holds the thing firmly enough to cope with a few accidental knocks.- The hole to "Hang in a nail or hook" is also OK.- The supposed hole "used for hanging rope" is poorly positioned and, in my opinion, unusable. Anything thicker than 2mm will foul the probe and anything lose will foul the probe as it is swung out.

Does the job but very flimsy so not sure how long it will last

I normally find other thermometers have little fiddly buttons and numbers on screens too small for me to read. This one is different. It is so easy to use and I can see the readings perfectly. It seems very accurate too, which is the main thing. It is easy to clean once used and folds away neatly so doesn’t take up much room. It’s the best one I’ve had and I will stick with this one from now on. I’m going to buy one for my sister too.

I bought two of these, one for normal kitchen use and one to use to monitor the temperature of salt water being used for water changes in my reef tank. I previously had an identical model which lasted for around 4 years until I dropped it into a bucket of sea water being tested (which did it no good at all but certainly wasn’t the fault of the gadget). It is easy to use with it automatically starting to operate as soon as you unfold the probe and shutting down as the probe is closed. The display is clear and easy to read and can be set to centigrade or Fahrenheit. I liked that it stabilised the temperature readin quite quickly, around three or four seconds. In terms of accuracy I think it is pretty good, the instructions say it is within 1 degree plus or minus which is probably good enough for most uses. As I had 2 arrive at the same time I tested them against each other, the difference between them was around 0.2 degrees (of course that doesn’t mean both gadgets are accurate but it gave me a level of confidence they read very close to each other. I am happy with these so far, I just need to not drop one into a bucket of sea water!

When you see something on your want list at a silly low price, my instincts cut in with ‘too good to be true - too cheap there must be a catch’ well in this case there isn’t. It works just right & the meat agrees - not too rare or overcooked. I have faith in this little devices accuracy. Easy to use, reliable at this price it exceeds my expectations.

Very disappointed. Default is degrees Fahrenheit. I would prefer Centigrade. Display reading is up and down like a frog in a bucket. Not recommended

This product was fine at first but after using it for a while, about 20times it basically fell apart.The thermometer end just came loose and all the wires were left hanging down so it went straight into the bin.Very poor quality, I know it wasn’t an expensive product but for general household use it should be better than it was.DONT BUY ONE, it won’t last long. I am going to have to buy a better quality one.

I discovered on Christmas Day that my meat thermometer which was bought a few months ago but never used was broken. A family member who works in a national supermarket chain told me that this model of machine was used in the hot food section to check on health and safety regulations. He said it was superb. I agree, simple to use, easy to clean.An excellent product at a good price.My only complaint is that it did not come with a triple A battery, luckily I found one in a drawer. They cost pennies to a manufacturer, it would be an act of kindness to a customer to supply the machine with one installed.It reminded me of buying an electric kettle and having to buy the wall plug decades ago.
