Excellent cheaper alternative
Given the price difference between these and the official HP cartridges they are nothing short of excellent. To be fair the packing is reasonably smart, the cartridges are all individually sealed. I thought from some of the reviews that I'd end up with messy, leaky cartridges that would spill everywhere. Nothing of the sort. The only issue is that when you install them the printer constantly reminds you they are not "official" HP cartridges. Just press a button to acknowledge that a few times and you're away. I know some people have commented on colour quality but - and this may be a matter of opinion - I'm not sure that photo printing by volume from these cheap printers is the most economical way to go anyway. I did a practice print and quality was fine. I believe there may be an issue with the computer not being able to tell you when the cartridges are running out but in the past (when using official cartridges) I've sort of ignored the computer's warnings anyway and usually got a few more prints out of them. As long as you have a spare set to hand it is no bother to install new ones when the printing starts to become faded. My only regret is that I didn't take the plunge and try these sooner. I suspect the ink quality is probably slightly inferior to official HP but because of the huge price difference (less than a third of the cost) I think 5 stars are merited.

I also like the fact you can see the ink level through ...
I had previously used non-manufacturer cartridges four years ago in an Epson printer & was plagued with blotchy & general unreliable quality. My current HP 5520 is well out of its warranty though and with printers now relatively cheap thought I might as well take a chance on aftermarket inks due to the high cost of original replacements. I am most pleasantly surprised! The print quality is indistinguishable from the original and it all worked first time as expected. I also like the fact you can see the ink level through the translucent plastic case, though they may not all be like this. The only downside is that every time I go to print, screen displays "counterfeit or used ink cartridge detected" but just close the window and it immediately prints away merrily. Considering I'm saving over £ 15 a set of inks, I can live with an irritating message. Conclusion : excellent value for money. Works with no hassle in my HP 5520. Print quality as good as original.

So far so good
First time I have used compatible cartridges having got the original inks and a spare set of HP originals when I bought the printer. Installed into Photosmart 6520 which had started to print in strange colours even though the printer reported two of the cartridges to be low but not depleted. Changing these two fixed the problem. Colours look perfect. You will get error messages from the printer and the printer driver which will complain that it is not a genuine HP cartridge but if you say Yes to the prompts that warn you of impending doom then the printer will work happily. Despite the chip on the cartridge you can no longer monitor the ink levels - but even with the genuine HP cartridges I was using before the monitor was clearly not as accurate as simply looking at the printed page. I suppose the problem is that you won't now know which cartridge to replace although a test print of yellow, cyan and blue coloured blocks should be obvious. No leakage problems on installing but early days yet! A set of genuine HP high capacity cartridges would cost 6-7 times as much and so seemed well worth the risk. Only time will tell but my printer is out of warranty and my view is that worse case they clog up or leak or print quality falls off then I have to revert to HP originals. But it may even be better for me to buy a new printer anyway.

May not have received Colour Direct product - received
I have only given 3 stars because I have only installed the print cartridges today - time will tell how long they last and how long the print quality lasts, it is too soon yet to be able to tell. Although initial impressions of print quality are very good, I have no means of telling whether the cartridges I received are actually Colour Direct cartridges. My order arrived in a standard Amazon cardboard mailer, inside which was a plain white padded bag with no writing/label in it, which contained 4 loose cartridges each in cellophane wrapping but with no labelling on the cellophane or on the cartridges themselves; the only thing on the cartridges is ‘364XL’ and a letter on each cartridge to indicate the colour of ink it contains. There was no note of any sort inside the padded bag, so I am unable to determine whethere these are Colour Direct cartridges. When I inserted the cartridges (ensuring as usual that I heard a ‘click’ on inserting each one, my HP Photosmart 6520 initially would not recognise them, showing a message that one or more cartridges were damaged/missing. I did observe, when inserting them, that the cartridges appeared slightly smaller than my previous cartridges and HP own-brand cartridges. I removed and re-inserted the cartridges, but saw the same message about one or more cartridges being damaged/missing. I must have removed and re-inserted the cartridges 8 or 9 times at least, ensuring the cartridge chips and contacts in my printer were clean, but without success (seeing again the same message aboit one or more cartridges being damaged/missing), before deciding to have one more go - and this time my printer recognised them, I was able to then clean the print heads, perform a successful test print and print several documents I wanted to print. I am now concerned that, although the cartridges do now work, the slightest movement of the printer will disturb them and they will therefore no longer work. As said, I am concerned that I may not have received Colour Direct cartridges - the ones I received could be any non-major brand at all. For future cartridge purchases, I may revert to HP own- brand ink - despite the cost - because of my experience today and bad experience with another cartridge purchase (where the cartridges - of a brand I had successfully used for some years but where I noticed the packaging/labelling has changed - were so bad and did not work properly at all that I had no choice but to throw them out, not being able to return them because personal circumstances mean I am not able to go out).

Great product; great price; recommended.
Great product at a great price. I stopped using HP inks some years ago due to the price. I have been using substitute inks from another website which have been fine, but the last set leaked when I opened them so have been seeking alternatives. I needed some ink urgently this weekend so placed an order for these on Friday evening; selected one-day delivery and I had the inks on Sunday morning. Perfect. I was wary of leaks given other reviews and my own recent experience with substitute inks, but these were fine. The inks were well packaged and I had no problems with opening or loading into the printer. The quality is amazing. Colours are vivid and true; comparable to a photo lab. I have just purchased another set to have on hand for my next 'ink emergency' and would have no hesitation recommending this product to others.

Don't buy
Came to use this in an HP7510 printer as listed as compatible. The printer doesn't recognise the cartridges despite powering off and on and refitting the cartridges many times.

Highly Recommended
Now, I have read a few reviews that suggest all was not well with this product - or set of products - but that has not been my experience at all. When these arrived, which they did quickly, they came in professional packaging and when I opened it up I found four ink cartridges that appeared, at least on surface inspection, to be similar in quality to the HP OEM ones. Obviously there must be some differences but the only thing I noted is that they are transparent which does allow you to visually check the ink level. Better than the HP ones, for sure. I also noted that some folk say they had a message come up when they installed them from HP warning about their use and do they want to continue. Well, I didn't and they simply worked from the off. In terms of print quality I don't see any difference between these and HP OEM. If I was worried about printing out high quality photos that I want to last forever then I'll use a professional print service. And look at the price. Just less than 1/3 of the price of the HP set. It's a no brainer.

Spot on
Bought these cartridges as Which magazine game the company a top rating. When they arrived I popped them in my very infrequently used printer which wasn't printing anything for me (but I didn't know whether it was because my previous ink had dried up or the printer head was history or what). It printed perfectly as soon as the new cartridges were in, and it's even estimating the ink levels which I haven't seen happen for non-HP cartidges before. So these cartridges are very good value.
