The official standard of a small fan heater.
Literally the best heater you can buy. Blows very strong heat at its highest setting for warming up anything or anyone quickly but also has very fluid heat controls for other use cases. The overheat and tip protections work very well and I tested them myself. Finally the fact Dimplex has been around for so long I trust the product to work for years and years. It’s a little on the pricey side but I am sure most people would spend a little bit more and know you have a good reliable and safe brand. Excellent product.

Perfect for its purpose
I bought this after looking at numerous alternative heaters and chose it because of its reviews. I recently had a conservatory built and this is just to boost the temp on really cold days/nights....it's perfect for that without being obtrusive. It heats the place up very quickly about 5 mins tops even without the central heating having been on previously. Once the place is up to temperature I turn it off and the central heating copes fine. It's low to the groung so no worrys about it getting knocked over and its very quiet. As I said, perfect for why I bought it, well made, cheap, safe and effective and to think that I almost considered a Dyson at many times the price.

Does a reasonable job and good value
I bought this because I have a large high ceilinged room so with large sash windows that are terrible for keeping in heat. I thought it would be cheaper to run this than pay for improving the windows. It does warm up the room on the highest setting but not to a toasty level, though I do notice the difference when I go into other rooms. Most importantly I no longer have to wear a hoodie to stay warm. I use the lowest setting when I'm lying on the floor watching TV and I have the heater running next to me. This is certainly not a quiet fan, I have to turn the TV volume up quite a bit when the fan is on. But then most fans at this price are not going to be silent.

efficient heater
Had an expensive £400 heater that developed fault just after two years and it looks like it may cost £90 to repair. Did a quick calculation and found I could buy 18 of these 2kw Dimplex heaters for £400. They also come with a three year guarantee so presumably Dimplex are reliable and robust for them to offer this level of guarantee. Interestingly the fan motor is a lot quieter on the Dimplex than the expensive model and heats a very large bedroom easily. The thermostat seems pretty efficient which is a bonus if you need to regulate room temp. I have ordered another based on these benefits and am now left wondering why I wasted £400 on an over engineered and over priced heater.that has failed just after the guarantee ran out

Becomes Unreliable - Avoid !
I have two (2kW and 3kW) and both now have the same fault: after a minute or two on full power they cut out completely and take a minute or two before turning on again. This cycle continues indefinitely. It's not because the desired temperature has been reached, it seems that the thermostat has a very primitive mechanical type of integral action (search PID Control to learn more) and this becomes unreliable after a year or two. It's a poor design anyway: they need three heat output levels not two, and the full on / fully off thermostat is irritating. Instead, they need to have thyristor control that smoothly varies the output from 0-100% to maintain the required temperature. Poor value as well.

Capable little heater
Bought one of these for use in an office last winter and used it daily for ~4 months. We'd previously been using some of the upright, "frost fighter" type heaters bought for £10-15, but this is much better. The upright type heaters have a tendency to get rattly after not very long and once they do there's nothing you can do to fix it. The fan in this unit seems well-balanced and the distribution of air from the heater is good, also it's not as loud in operation as some similar heaters, possibly due to the way the fan is housed inside the unit.. The settings are simple with a thermostatic cutoff and you get a good amount of heat out of it. I would say that one of these heaters is good enough to heat a fairly poorly insulated room (e.g. single-glazing but without too many draughts) of about 15 feet square, in the middle of winter. Recommended - would buy again.

a good product
i am satisfied with the product. compared with other heaters i had in the past, i like the fact that it does not switch off when it decides to (i had one delonghi product which used to do that when the room wasn't warm enough, and sometimes it went on working when it was already too hot - strange thermostat!!!) so this one keeps heating until i think it is warm enough. It is not as silent as other reviews suggested , a normal level of noise for a fan heater. I gave it four stars cos it doesn't heat up the room as fast as my old heaters, but it is working fine. overall happy...
