The best iPad case ever
I am on my 5th iPad and even more cases and this is the “perfectess” case I have ever had. It’s what the apple case should be but isn’t. It’s thin, light and loaded with magnets that hold everything together. No more falling over, coming open in my back pack and running the battery down. I’ve never dropped anything from a dizzy height or run over it with a truck but it’s the very next best thing to “no case”. Makes my tablet easy to hold and carry safely without any noticeable added weight and bulk. AND ITS INEXPENSIVE!

Great Case Except Wake/Sleep Does Not Work
Edit 2: ESR sent me a new version about a month after launch, with properly working wake/sleep. Love this case & ESR's customer support. I went ahead and removed any mention of sleep/wake not working, so it wouldn't confuse anyone looking to buy the case going forward. This case has a lot of Pros for the iPad Pro. I purchased both this case and the official Smart Cover from Apple (as well as a Magic Keyboard). I just wanted a case for when I wanted to bring the iPad places without the Magic Keyboard and this seemed like a decent case at a much lower price point. I returned the Apple one and kept this.Pros:- Decently made, I like the feel of the cover. It is relatively the same feeling, grip/texture, structure and as the original Apple folios. I have owned other aftermarket folios and they felt like they had cardboard inside - this one feels like quality.- The magnets are strong and hold the iPad in place. It's not difficult to remove but I am also not worried it will fall out.- I really love the flap for securing the pencil to the side. This is the best solution, since you can drop this in your bag with the pencil attached (and charging) and not worry about it falling off. The flap doesn't get in my way at all, even if I don't have the pencil attached - and I can magnetically fold it back out of the way.- Biggest Pro is the priceCons- The 'lip' of the case sticks out further than the original Apple folio, which cuts into your hand slightly. It was the biggest noticeable difference between the two cases and the first thing my girlfriend pointed out.At almost 1/5th the cost, the case is good in comparison to the Apple one. I do really like the flap for the pencil.Edit #1: ESR reached out to me, as my main complaint with this cover is/was the sleep & wake functioning not working. They shared a little hack using a Post It Note to make the sleep & wake function workThey also said they are working to correct the case in a future iteration, without the need to use the sticky note - in which case, it will be a 5 star product, IMO. Really appreciate ESR support reaching out.

Great, minimalistic case
This case is minimalistic and protective! It holds the Apple Pencil very well! The iPad's built in magnets hold the case perfectly! Only problem is (which is just me nit-picking) the black color shows finger prints easily.

FOLIO NOT CASE No protection on the sides
While the build quality of the 'case 'feels very high quality, it has some faults. I will be returning this myself, however I recommend reading to see if it will work for your uses.1: This isn't a reason for any docked stars, but I wanted to mention. Unlike this brand's other cases, the magnetic function can not be used in vertical mode, and the flap stand can not be used in any way to allow the iPad to stand vertically. This alone is the reason I'm returning this product, as the other faults I was tempted to overlook.2. There is no protection on the sides of the case. While yes the images don't show at all any form of coverage, it looked as though the case went out enough of the sides(top and bottom) and that it was strong enough to still protect from a fall. It is not. The tiny amount it sticks out is thin and soft, and would just bend and not cushion a fall on the top/bottom of the case in any way. So your case is really only protected on the front and back, as well as the slight coverage from the "hinge" and flap around the apple pencil.3. The magnets on the back flap/stand are not strong enough. The magnets that connect the iPad to the case are ok, enough that unless a fall happens it shouldn't budge. However, the stand function has to be in the perfect spot to hold the angle, and if it's slightly off it tends to slip back to flat. I do believe the magnets aren't doing anything outside of the auto on/off screen, and the stand works due to the weight of the iPad.All in all, if you just need a folio to protect your screen and back from scratches, this is perfect. Definitely worth the price for those purposes. The flap that protects the apple pencil is pretty sure as well, while the magnet is secure the pencil doesn't slide or fall.HOWEVER if you want a CASE or even just slight drop protection, this folio is not it. This is the kind of cover that's good for a device that stays in a bag 24/7 unless at a table/seat. Your iPad won't be protected from falls, only scratches.Hope my review helps!

Buy this instead of the overpriced official one.
Awesome product. Buy this instead of the Apple one. I’ve used both and I prefer this one, which is also a fraction of the price. I was worried the pencil flap would annoy me but I got used to it quickly, and it’s actually really helpful to keep your pencil from falling off while handling the tablet or throwing it in your bag, etc.
