Great stuff for applying decals
Have been making models for ages and applying decals was always a chore. Had a German panzer to finish off before weathering and mat varnishing so switched on good old YouTube to check out Micro Sol and set.Bought a set and used it to apply the tank number to a rather bumpy side turret. This usually looked a mess but using the micro bottles the decal melted and now looks as if it was painted on - talk about gob smacked. So in short, may cost a bit and take a while to apply but it’s really amazing stuff and looks like it’s going to last ages - great bargain.Check out YouTube and search for “applying micro sol” to see it in action.Enjoy

Decals on minis
Works just as intended, can't recommend enough these are small bottles however but that does not warrant losing a star over it, however for the price I had to pay + shipping one can't feel it was too muchHowever fully recommend helps a lot with decals on minis 10/10

My go to decal softener but can struggle a bit if the decals are very thick.
I have been using Micro Sol and Set on my models for years. Great for helping get the decals to conform to curves and panel lines of your model kits. These bottles are small (and expensive) but it does go a very long way. Unless you are into industrial scale model making the bottle will last for ages.Take care when using the red bottle as the decals are incredibly weak after it has been applied and shouldn't be touched until they have dried. The bottles are easy to knock over so best to put them in a stand. It can struggle a bit with very thick decals.

great for warhammer decals
Great but expensive for what it is, as a bonus you shouldn't run out any time soon.pros. makes decal easy to use. Cons expensive and smells a bit like vinegar.

Perfect decal set
When I first tried Micro Set, I was impressed by how easily the decal slid off its backing paper and adhered without silvering—proof that the wetting agents truly cut through residual paint. After letting the decal dry into the Micro Set layer overnight, a few gentle dabs of Micro Sol made the film melt into panel lines with zero wrinkles—just like a pad‑printed marking . Even on my most detailed 1/72 scale aircraft kits, the duo held firm through clear‑coating and light weathering without lifting or peeling.Usage Tips1. Apply Micro Set first: Use a soft, flat artist’s brush to coat the model surface where the decal will sit; this ensures strong adhesion and reduces silvering2. Position decals in water: Float the decal in water, slide it off the backing, and gently blot away excess moisture before it dries3. Let Micro Set cure: Allow the decal to rest in Micro Set overnight—rushing this step risks lifting when you apply Micro Sol4. Apply Micro Sol sparingly: After the decal sets, brush on Micro Sol in small amounts; let it settle for 15–30 seconds before touching to avoid tearing5. Avoid ridges and bubbles: Use a fine‑point tool (e.g., a needle or micro‑brush) to puncture any trapped air pockets before adding more solution6. Seal your work: Once fully dry (24 hours), protect your decals with Microscale’s Micro Coat or another clear finishFinal ThoughtsFor any scale modeler seeking flawless decals, the Micro Set + Micro Sol combination is virtually indispensable. Micro Set’s wetting agents and adhesive boosters deliver rock‑solid placement, while Micro Sol’s softening power conforms decals into every crease and rivet. Although proper technique is crucial to avoid over‑softening, once mastered, these solutions elevate water‑slide decals from standard to superb—transforming them into integral, painted‑on details that withstand handling, clear‑coating, and time.

Best method for decals
I have used a couple of different methods for applying decals in the past and honestly this has been the best one yet. So simple! For reference I used a method from Games Workshop using Ardcoat and medium and I kept struggling to keep it in place, lost two decals in the process. Took over 10 minutes. With these Micro I managed to do them in a minute. A little wiggling about from unsteady hands and trying to remove the excess, but haven’t lost any and found it so easy.I guess there’s a reason these are popular in the hobby community and should have got these from the start, instead of wasting time with other methods that were okay at best.
