Is this appropriate for a 5 year old as it seems the food is very small and would be more suited for under 4

I purchased this for my 2 yr old Grandaughter, and my 5 yr old Grandaughter also plays with it. I purchased a shopping cart also, and they put the items in there too.

How many of the containers can be opened?

All of them should be able to be opened and cleaned. You may have to break the seal to open the containers.Also they are made of cardboard so once opened may loose some of the stifness
