Comedy classic from the 'Saturday Night Live' stable which comes packed with car chases, music and cameo appearances. Blues brothers Jake and Elwood (John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd) have sold their souls to rhythm'n'blues, but still lend a hand when the church orphanage in which they were raised is threatened with closure. Resolving to get their old band together and stage a fund-raising gig, the brothers have God on their side but everyone else against them - and that includes a bunch of Country and Western rednecks, an angry chapter of neo-Nazi thugs, the massed ranks of the Chicago police force, and Jake's psychotic ex-girlfriend Camille (Carrie Fisher).

Long overdue blu-ray debut of a classic movie
What can I say about The Blues Brothers... a classic action-comedy-musical and showcase of some classic blues tunes and top-notch musicians, the likes of which would struggle to get made today. This review is for the long-overdue blu-ray release. The packaging doesn't make clear that this includes an extended version of the film, with additional footage only recently discovered. This release suffers from the same problem as The Wicker Man (although to a much lesser extent) in that the additional footage doesn't match the quality of the original theatrical cut. The theatrical footage bears up very well in HD, given the age of the material. However the additional footage was apparently taken from a projection print, and every time the film branches to the additional scenes, there is a noticeable increase in contrast. It's not that noticeable and won't spoil your enjoyment of the film - and the additional scenes are well worth having, particularly the extended John Lee Hooker with JLH arguing with his band at the end of the song :)Audio-wise, the blu-ray has a standard DVD-quality (i.e. compressed) DTS 5.1 track, which is a little disappointing, given that the packaging advertises a lossless DTS-HD track. However it still sounds damn good - the bass kicking in on She Caught The Katy is just great. The songs are punchy and crystal clear. The DTS engineers have done such a good job on their original DTS codec that you wonder how much better DTS-HD actually is when compared side-by-side.Overall a great release of a classic film, and a must for any blu-ray collection.

Perfect
This was to replace a lost DVD but this one is a better version having scenes that weren't in my original copy. Very pleased with it.

Blues Brothers: review written by katie
Bought this for my daughter who watches it every single day. here is her review:This film is a splendid and lovable film for most people. It is absolutely hilarious and bursting with laughter. The film's about two men called the blues brothers being chased by the police by doing lots of crimes. Most people recommend this film as a 15+ because there's some swear words in it. But I like it because when they say the swear words it's always really funny.I especially like it when Carrie fisher acts as the mad women and sounds so furious when she speaks. There are also some really famous people in it like: Dan Ackroyd , John Candy, Aretha Franklin, John-lee-Hooker and James brown.I think the outfits are splendid though, the blues brothers are always in black and there are some nice outfits from the band as well.My best outfit is Carrie fishers and the blues brothers. I like it because there is some really cool music in it and I can play it on my saxophone.THEY'LL NEVER GET CAUGHT THEY'RE ON A MISSION FROM GOD!
