Sharp, light and wide angle
Initially i do not knew if i will buy this lens or 16-35, and i opted by this due to its lower price and size. I am very happy with its performance, sharpnes and light weight. Very good to use with circular filters because do not causes vigneting in the corners. The only issue is the distortion but the distortion correction in post processing can help here.So i am very happy with this lens, and i recomend for those who cant buy 16-35 and want a lightweight lens.

This lens is fantastic, crystal clear
This lens is fantastic, crystal clear, I went out yesterday to try it out and every photo was tack sharp, after reading lots of reviews praising this lens I decided to bite the bullet and add it to my Nikon 24-120 and my Tamron 150-600 to give me a good range of lens and I'm glad I did, colours and contrast are excellent and the ED glass helps with Flare which there is none of in my photos. Do your self a favour and forget about the 16-35 VR and the 14-24 as this lens is perfect for an amateur like me, see examples of this lens on my D750

Very nice for the money
Very nice lens for the price. Not as high quality as the top range Nikon stuff but a good quality wide lens for FX sensors. Light and reasonably compact compared to the bigger, heavier, more expensive but more premium Nikon16-35 f4. If you want the extra 2mm you'll have to pay more and go for that one but the 18-35 is very nice.

Excellent "budget" FX lens
For those on the fence between this and the 16-35mm f/4 I was too, I bought this for a trip to Iceland I've just returned from and can say that over the 2 weeks of use this lens hardly left my camera. I was concerned with my D800 that either lens would show weaknesses, reading about the 16-35mm and it's poor corners concerned me. Now I've not tried the 16-35mm but from full samples I've seen this beats it from my results. In that I have to say this is a great "budget" (is there such a word in full frame photography?) lens. Nice and light, although compared to other FX lenses I have it feels much more of a DX level lens (I'd compare it to the DX 18-105mm I had years ago on my D90 in terms of weight and tactile use).No light leakage on long exposures in the day, flare decent. Zoom ring smooth and a decent turn distance from 18 to 35mm. Focusing very good from my use, although I tend to use it for landscapes so it doesn't have to be the fastest but it was accurate.Overall very happy I chose this, all you are missing is VR on the 16-35mm and 2mm on the wide end, never really bothered me in use. Sharpness even in to the edges was very acceptable, distortion seems easily corrected in Lightroom with standard profiles, no crazy distortion even without it.So in closing this should definitely be on your shortlist, saving £300+ over the 16-35mm plus a bit of weight it deserves at least a trial.

Top lens
Really good lens! I was considering this or the 16-35 VR.....when I weighed it all up, for my purposes this is actually better....seriously guys, read the techie reviews and then ask yourself whether you want this on a hike or the much heavier one with VR......nearly all of my serious landscape photography is on a tripod so don't need the VR....I certainly don't need the extra weight when already carrying two cameras, water, tripod, food etc...As far as quality and sharpness go....although I haven't used the 16-35mm, from reading reviews I don't think there is a lot in it. My concern before trying the lens was flare....it's actually very good at handling it from my experience so far with it.The difference in price was not the deciding factor for me but more the weight and whether the nano coat and VR was absolutely necessary.....I would buy this one again, really nice to use.

Shame its not Japanese!
Seems expensive for a Chinese lens!

Perfect Lightweight Wide Angle Zoom.
Love this little lens. Versatile focal range. Optically spot on and easily rivals it's bigger brother the Nikon 16-35mm f4 G AF-S ED VR Lens - which I have owned and then sold after about a year as it was just as large and as heavy as my trusty Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 but not as much use. So yes while this lens is made of plastic don't let that put you off - this makes it very lightweight and so I'm happy to carry this in my bag in most situations. It doesn't have VR but frankly that's rarely going to be a big issue at this focal length. Very versatile for most photographic styles. So if your looking for something wider than 24mm look no further.P.S I have owned a few 20mm f2.8D in my time and loved them. I was almost tempted to get the new Nikon 20mm f1.8G AF-S NIKKOR ED but knew from experience that frequently you just need that little bit more on either side of the focal range.

I love this little lens!
I love this little lens! It would have got 5 stars, but the first one supplied was faulty. Amazon returns policy, however, meant that a replacement was with me the next day, easier than going to my local camera shop! The lens is small, light and plenty sharp enough for me. It's not one I will use as often as other lenses, therefore it was not worth spending the extra for the more professional Nikon wide angle zooms, but it is more than adequate for my purposes.
