Q: Will this work for my hp pavillion g series notebook please?

It worked fine for me. My laptop is model is Pavilion G72.

Q: Is this charged when supplied?

It's not fully charged. Probably about 10% so needs to be charged when you get it. Instructions say let it discharge to about 7% but don't flatten it, then fully charge it, do this about 3 times. It conditions the battery for best performance.

Q: I've chosen to return this battery to Amazon as it only lasts for 2 hrs max. Anyone done this successfully and if so which courier have you used?

I returned this item in 2019 and can't remember what courier was used. However Amazon took care of it all, sending me return label, and instructions. Everything worked without a problem and refund was quick. Bought a real HP battery but that didn't help much. My G series Pavilion battery life never exceeded 2.5 hrs by very much. Replaced laptop with another manufacturer's product.

Q: How long should the battery last once fully charged? I'm only getting just under 2hrs which is not what I expected.

I have the same laptop essentially and I would say around 2 hours is about right for a replacement battery. My machine is now over 7 years old and I am on my third battery and the replacements do not seem to have the capacity of the originals. However, if you look for an original HP unit they tend to be a lot more expensive! Also, the g6 is a bit prone to overheating. Maybe get a tech to clean it? Dave.
