A STAGGeringly good DI box!
This is a fantastic DI box for the money.I have A/B'd mine with a Radial Stagebug (which is known to be a good DI box) using an organ, and while the Radial is a touch clearer, with ever so slightly more defined attack on each note, the difference is really pretty small. Turns out that when it comes to spending money on DI boxes, the law of diminishing returns is very much at play.I was expecting a much bigger difference...I thought perhaps the Stagg would suffer with loud, bassy signals and yes; the Radial is more defined, but the Stagg did perfectly well. I didn't hear any saturation or weakness with bass sounds; just ever so slightly less definition. The Stagg actually sounds ever so slightly more vintage than the Radial: There is a slight emphasis in the lowish mids with the Stagg, and a slight blur in the sound as opposed to the clear definition of the Radial. But, these differences are really very small indeed. In fact, using the Radial and the Stagg as a stereo pair was perfectly fine and not lopsided at all.I've not A/B'd the two with any electro/acoustic instruments...perhaps the differences between the two would be greater...but I have used the Stagg in live sound with mandolins and acoustic guitars and it's been up to the job.The ground lift switch works well and lifts the ground on the XLR out as well as the pass-through without otherwise affecting the sound at all.My only criticisms of the Stagg are that on mine, the mono/stereo switch seems to be marked the wrong way round: When set to stereo, both XLR outputs contain the same sound. And when I received my Stagg DI box, a transformer was rattling around inside the case; still working fine, but loose. I stuck it back onto the case with a bit of araldite. It seems pretty well built (apart from the loose transformer!) and the metal case is sturdy. I doubt the switches will fail for a long time as the buttons are pressed so rarely. The plastic jack sockets feel solid and the XLR outputs seem strong enough too. If anything breaks on this, it'll be an easy DIY fix too.I'm not regretting buying my Radial DI, despite the cost. But I must admit, this Stagg DI box appears to be almost as good as the Radial. So, for the price, thoroughly recommended!

cheap device that works very well
good basic stereo di box

Does the basic job well.
Works as it's supposed to. I use it in a jazz band, to DI my electric bass to the desk and use my GK amp as a monitor. Works fine with most of my basses, but some active basses will still deliver a too-hot signal to the desk so it would be nice to have an attenuator. Given the device is pretty cheap you can't expect all the bells & whistles. Good value for what it is.

Bargain price, strong, and sounds so nice ;)
This little box has certainly improved the sound through my guitar amp.I tend to use a long lead and I found that, after using pedals and patch cables, I was picking up static, hiss and also local TV and radio interference. This all served to be more annoyance than I could handle. So I added this little box and it has removed all interference, and even improved the tone of my guitar to the point that I actually sound almost like Hank Marvin .... ALMOST.I should also mention the quality, too. This thing is a hefty, sturdy steel box. I stood on it twice, by accident, and it can take all my sizable bulk with ease.I will ensure to buy more of these in future if and when they become a necessity.I am one very happy customer.Thankyou for such a marvelous product at this incredible price.

Works (sort of) - Poor build quality
As is the case with many other reviewers here, mine also arrived with loose transformers. Easy fix - opened it up, bit of hot glue - sorted. While I was in there I noticed the bad soldering. Also Stereo/Mono switch was the wrong way around and it's marked with I/O on it which makes things extra confusing - surely they could have put a plain black switch on it (nothing a black sharpie can't take care of I suppose)? I took that out and flipped it 180 degrees so now that's sorted too.In its defence, both channels work; can't comment on sound quality yet but judging from the components (Just 2x cheap looking transformers, a few wires, switches and connectors) it probably won't blow my mind.I never expected a top quality product from Stagg - especially for that price, but the thing is such a mess it's pure comedy. I very much doubt it will last long on the road - hopefully it will survive this one gig I need it for. Only purchased as I needed an extra 2x channels of DI quick and cheap for a last minute job so it will probably spend the majority of its life sitting in a dark corner of my storage unit collecting dust.

Simple and effective
This DI box is dead easy to use and so far very reliable. I mounted it (with a little blu-tac!) on the wall of the church stage next to the XLR connection box and it is neat and accessible.

headphone output into microphone input
When record events running with a PA system, I have to feed the audio from the PA into my camera. I connect the headphone output (usually the ony audio feed available) from the PA amplifier to the unbalanced input.I then connect the xlr side, via a 20db attenuator, into the camera microphone socket. For spoken word, this works suprisingly well. Plenty of signal available - gain easily controllable because of the attenuator, and no discernible noise that I can hear.Haven't tried using this with a music concert.Inhave also put the headphone output from various mp3/mp4 players/TVs etc and they all seem to come through clean enough for my purposes.Yes, mine rattled - the glue securing the transformer to the base had failed. Not a massive problem to fix but be aware of this manufacturing fault.
