Q: will this work on heavy clay soil?

Just managed to turn over my whole garden using this. I had heavy compacted clay soil complete with stones, roots and some turf. Took a bit of time, and works better backwards on heavy soil.

Q: Will this till through Ivy growth?

It cuts through all growth and that includes ivy. The problem with ivy its root system spreads so thick under the soil and needs pulling out once the tiller has disturbed the roots/soil and loosened them up but it’s ideal for this task. The roots if really thick can get entwined in the rotor tiller blades and need clearing every now and again but that’s to be expected of any rotational product. Switching off the power and with safety in mind of course when you do! We actually got our tiller to clear ivy from flower beds and some unkept areas of our garden and it has helped us do that so well and easier than by digging alone. Takes a bit of getting used to using but once the technique is found it’s fairly straight forward and efficient to use.

Q: Is there any way to reduce the handle length as I am quite short?

I can see no safe or effective way to shorten the handle. There is, too, a limit to the degree to which the tiller can be sloped backwards to accommodate a short person.
