The tiny ones really are tiny! But for the price they're really good, and definitely do the job of stabbing a cake or some chicken for a kebab!

For some reason, I found it quite hard to get hold of small skewers in shops where I would expect to find such standard kitchen equipment (Lakeland and John Lewis looked at me like I was mad and pointed me in the direction of those large, square barbecue skewers). I wanted these primarily for checking cakes etc. are cooked in the middle. Pretty much every recipe states 'it is done when an inserted skewer or knife comes out clean' so I don't know why these things are so hard to find. However, good old Amazon had this pack of them and they will be very useful to have around.

I bought these to cook upright kebabs in the oven and I have to say they are not built for it. I would definitely say that they are meant for a BBQ.My only feedback would be that the large size is perfect, however the smaller ones are actually a lot shorter than the size of skewer you would generally use on a BBQ.The shortest one is 6" which, when you think of it, is very short; consider a chicken kebab with veg on it (BBQ staple food). Each chicken piece and veg piece should be 1", so you can have a very busy kebab skewer with 6 pieces crammed on or one with small spacing with 5 pieces.Neither are viable to me. Although I'm sure there is a use for them that I'm not thinking about.That said, they are very good quality and resilient. I tried bending one and I can say that it's certainly not easy (if possible).

I really should check measurements.....smaller than expected but good quality great price and still did a few good size kebabs, i would recommend for the price :)

I use these frequently when roasting joints or cooking cuts of meat such as brisket in a casserole, in order to hold the meat together (push through the meat from opposite sides), and to aid the cooking process by transferring heat into the centre of the joint. These are not too long if using on a joint within a casserole and are easily removed when carving. Also useful when cooking jacket potatoes in the oven, again to shorten the cooking time. Ideal to insert into things like chicken to check juices do not run pink, and for many dishes to check that everything is heated through and when baking. Some of the much longer and thicker skewers I have do have a tendency to rust but these shorter thinner skewers have been fine.

the package was delivered on time well packed.I thought the skewers would be larger in diameter than what they turned out to be but my wife was happy to use them. The type of skewer I remember as a youngster were bigger in dia and also the stem was square and was twisted which tended to stay in the roasting joint better but at the price they were adequate
