Q: what are the dimensions of this item

The net opens to approx 144cm and clamps fit a table up to 4cm thick

I use on a square but would fit on a round as well

Yes but having bought the game to play with our two young grandchildren we didn't find this a problem.

No, there is no padding, but the grip is not that tight as to leave marks. I use it on a solid wood table and it is fine.
