Architect's and Artist's MUST HAVE!
I'm still using the one I purchased in the early 1990s from a college bookstore for my Architectural Drafting Class (CADD was barely getting it's start back then). I just wanted a backup, as I've been using it more often lately than before, and am now about 50% of the way through it. It's an absolute staple in any drawing-person's toolkit! ONLY go with Mars plastic erasers! The other brands/types will just disappoint you - older architects in particular can verify this as 100% fact, not mere opinion. Works great on velum, drawing paper, etc. Also, get your aspiring artist what's known as a "dusting brush" to go with it! It removes the eraser crumbs without smudging the pencil marks, and keeps hands clean. It would be excellent if that was sold together with the Mars plastic eraser as a set! There are other manual drafting tools you can buy too, usually as kits, and MIT has some epic manual drafting videos (from the 50s) that your aspiring Architect will really enjoy for historical reference and general "line alphabet" education, but these two (the Mars plastic eraser and the dusting brush) go together like Abbot and Costello! There are other dusting brushes on Amazon and elsewhere, but I've used this kind before (with the handle going straight out, rather than curving up) and the way this forces the wrist into a 90 degree angle from the paper works best, as it forces a nice "wiping outward" motion without hurting the wrist (found here on Amazon): https://www.amazon.com/Soft-Cleaning-Brush-Drafting-Microfiber/dp/B07TTYMMGN/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=dusting+brush&qid=1608652687&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRjQ1NVpSNlc3WlBaJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTU2OTE1WDFQUzdKUFNFQjBCJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0MjczOTkzNUUxOVoxSlA1N04xJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== Anyway, that gives you an image of what I'm talking about here. Good luck to you and the aspiring Architect or Artist in your life!

It leaves a lot of crumbs behind but it erases in my planner which is what I needed it to do. It didn't tear the paper. But it does leave a lot of eraser dust behind which is part of what happens when you erase. I probably could have bought something cheaper I thought it was a package of three and it was just one single eraser. But it does a good job. I'm not sure if I'll purchase again because I think it's overpriced.

Excellent
Yes, it’s a bit smallish and a bit costly, but is well worth it. In addition to the usual erasing duties, it cleans and freshens up marked or dingy paper goods without leaving pink residue or smears behind.

Good eraser, poorly designed packaging
I score musical notation with an HB pencil. This eraser does a better job than the pink/black/green pencil tip erasers. And it's a little cleaner than a typical art gum eraser. I have only a minor beef with the packaging. It's in some kind of heat shrink plastic. Only way I could find to open it was to carefully insert an exacto knife between the plastic and the eraser. Essentially impossible to do, I cut the eraser with the exacto just trying to get the thing out of the package. I'm thinkin' those German rocket scientists at Staedtler could design a better package that the user could open without needing an additional tool.

Best art eraser
Replaced one I bought 10 years ago and used up. Exactly the same.

Art Class
Your Professor probably recommended this eraser to you. There's a reason why! It's the standard for art courses. Easy to use and stores away nicely.

Very nice and price worthy

It's a white eraser that erases stuff. What more can you hope for in an eraser? At this price, I can just add a couple to an order I'm about to put through, and not ever have to walk into Walmart again. (Same goes for the add-on pencils, crayons, markers, etc. They're all great.)

I bought the eraser so that I didn't have to pay for shipping, it bumped me over the "spend $25 get free shipping" it worked out I saved a couple bucks doing it that way. Highly recommend it :D
